09.01.2022 The Barham Koondrook Historical Society are still seeking funding for the re-stumping of the 120 year old Baptist Church. Only $6,000 to go and we can achieve our first goal. The next projects will be to replace the entrance doors, install disability access ramps, re-surface the interior floor, repair windows and external timbers. The kitchen renovation is also a priority. The end goal is to re-open the historic building for the local residents to come and meet as well as for the wider community. So keep watching this space for updates.

06.01.2022 Church re-stumping
02.01.2022 Unfortunately we were unsuccessful for the Victorian grant to re-stump the historical Koondrook Baptist Church. The procedure that the Victorian Government used did not favour small rural country towns and we were unable to obtain all the votes needed from the local residents. The applicants were only permitted to ask residents within a 50km radius of the location of the project to log onto the internet and process their vote. Koondrook was also at a disadvantage in that the... only half the radius was achievable as the Murray River covered the other half and we were not able to cross the NSW border to our neighbours. We will keep trying to gain funding so that the Church can then be re-opened to the general public. Donations to assist the Historical Society in this endeavour would greatly help our aim. The Historical Society members would like to sincerely thank all those Victorian residents who did vote for the project. See more
