Today's tip is all about pouring take-away coffees When you have a line-up of takeaway coffees, it is usually best to steam the milk for multiple coffees in a bigger jug to ensure customers arent waiting too long However, you should only use this method if you can get the texture you need for both coffees out of the one jug. The best way to ensure the right amount of textured milk is poured into both takeaway cup...s is to pour the milk into your first cup until it is half-full, then to spin your jug to mix the micro-bubbles back through the milk and then to completely fill the second cup and go back to finish filling up the first. By splitting the milk between the cups like this, you ensure one cup isn't full of froth while the other is lacking texture If you were pouring dine-in coffees and planned to do latte art, you would instead split the texture between two jugs and pour the coffees separately, so you have exactly the right amount of textured milk for both #bsp #cuphalffull #coffeenerd #coffeefacts See more

12.01.2022 BSP tip of the week Today we're taking on the mighty task of breaking down the MACCHIATO The long and short of it is that when a macchiato is referred to as traditional, this is referring to the amount of milk added to either one or two espresso shots. The word macchiato means stained in Italian, so traditionally only a stain of milk or froth was added. The 'short' and 'long' part of a macchiato is referring to the amount of coffee one espresso is a short ...macchiato and a long macchiato is two espresso shots In Perth specifically, a long macchiato topped up is used to describe two espresso shots topped up with steamed milk & about a cm of froth. The glass size was originally a latte glass for this new take on a macchiato, however many customers would complain of it tasting too milky and would ask for the glass to be filled 3/4 full. This sparked a change in the glass size used and many cafes around Perth now use a slightly smaller glass or cup than a latte glass when serving a long macchiato.
