24.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone!! Thanks for a fabulous 2016 - look forward to seeing you all in 2017!! Spaces available from Tuesday 10th January - get rid of your dogs excess coat before the wet season kicks in and avoid that 'wet dog' smell!

23.01.2022 ANIMAL CARE FOR SENIORS AT HOME (ACSAH) formed just on three years ago. Their principal aim is to send volunteers into the homes of our older or frail citizens... and assist them to care for their pets. ACSAH has some 30 volunteers. Within this group, the volunteers who provide home pet-assist ie entering the homes of clients undergo an induction provided by both ACSAH and St John’s, and must complete a first aid course and undergo police checks. This provides security for our clients many of whom are quite vulnerable. Anyone can recommend a client. Under St John’s code of ethics, they do not discriminate on any grounds language, race, religion etc. They also hope anyone needing assistance with their pet would in the first instance seek help from family, friends and neighbours, leaving ACSAH volunteers free to help those amongst us who may be financially unable to pay for help. Some of the duties volunteers perform are dog walking, cat grooming, assistance in administering medication, feeding and bathing. Most current clients require help walking their dogs. If requested, they are able to offer advice on the care of a pet or take that pet to the vet in an emergency; they are not permitted to transport human clients. But they do keep an eye on our humans too and would seek help for them if required. They do our best to foster pets if a client is hospitalised; but sadly are not always able to do this. So again, they ask pet owners to always have a plan in place for the care of their pets in an emergency. They have a volunteer in Port Douglas. 22.01.2022 Thanks to all those clients who have now pre-booked up until Christmas.... For all those that haven't - get in quick! October - BOOKED OUT! Cancellation/stand by list spots available. November - FILLING FAST with some weeks booked out already! DECEMBER - ALMOST FULL!! Only a few spots still remaining before Christmas and between Christmas and New Year. 16.01.2022 Dear Valued Clients, I know it seems early but with only 12weeks until Christmas, it's time to start thinking about pre-booking your dog in for their summer clips now! With the summer heat well and truly upon us already (did we have a winter??), appointments are filling fast with a current wait time of almost two weeks at the moment! Please don't leave booking your dog in to the last minute - plan ahead! As always, I have a cancellation list that operates quite well and due t...o work, illness etc it is possible to sometimes get in earlier than you've booked, you just might get lucky . Barkley's will also be closed from December 10th-20th for a family holiday and will then be closed the normal Christmas trade Public Holidays after that. 07.01.2022 Sorry for the lack of posts lately but everyone's dogs are hot and I'm flat out working like a panting dog!! Please note when wanting to book your next groom - I'm currently booking out a week, to a week and a half in advance at this stage. The only available appointments I have left next week are on Friday 13th, and there are currently only three left on that day. To make sure that I can continue to service my current 250 odd loyal clients, I am considering closing the books to any new clients at this present time. Thankyou to all my lovely clients, long-term and new, I love my job because of you!

07.01.2022 Barkley's will be closed from Wednesday 22nd March until Wednesday 5th April for a family holiday. Limited appointment times still available in the next two weeks so message or text ASAP if you'd like your dog groomed before we leave! All messages/texts received after the 22nd March will be returned when we arrive back in Oz after the 5th April.

06.01.2022 Appointment update!! There are now only a few spots remaining in November, on the 28th, 29th & 30th - the rest of November is BOOKED OUT!! December is also almost full - a couple of vacancies exist on the 1st & 2nd and also the 28th & 29th and then that is it for 2016!! Please book in for the last few spots left ASAP before it's too late

04.01.2022 1st of December today!! Santa Paws has delivered a stash of toys for every dog groomed at Barkley's in December! Grooming appointments are limited with only a few spots remaining between now and Christmas already. Like every busy Christmas, I have a standby/cancellation list that works very well. A few clients forget they have appointments, have to cancel, get called in to work etc etc so you never know your luck, please be patient as I do my very best to try and fit everyone in :)

03.01.2022 Fully booked for the remainder of December! Appointments available from 6th January 2016, however I can put your name onto my cancellation list and I have been able to get a few clients in this week that way so fingers crossed!
