25.01.2022 Male and female players from Elliott, Alicurung and Ampilatwatja communities were selected from the Barkly Women and Men Competition held in Tennant Creek to represent the Barkly Remote communities within the Barkly Region to compete in the Southern Cup tournament held in Alice Springs from 8th-10th December 2017. Congratulations to Gavin Beasley from Alicurung community for winning the Spirit award 2017. Also congratulations to Tennant Creek Women and men's team for winning ...the overall Southern Cup competition. Our Barkly Men came 3rd and the women came 5th in the overall competition. Congratulations to all teams who participated and competed.



22.01.2022 If you are under 25, haven't registered or would like to represent your communities (AliCurung , Ampilatwatja, Arlparra and Elliott) in the Under 25 Male & Female Basketball Competition. Please see your Youth Sport & Rec Team Leaders in your community. First comp will be played this Saturday 7th October as per draw below. 18.01.2022 Please support your local community Basketball teams by registering your name with our BRC Youth Sport and Recreation Team Leaders or Yves Makita to play or come down to the Tennant Creek Sport & Rec Basketball courts to cheer and support your local community teams who will be competing in the Semifinal and Grandfinal as per Program below. 10.01.2022 Thank you Grant Melzer and his staffs from Anyinginyi Sport & Recreation, Dylan Kerrin and Courtney for your tremendous support with umpiring, scoring and providing the uniforms, water and time to assist with our first round competition of the BRC Female & Male Regional Basketball Competition 2017. Thank you very much Sid Vashist for your continous support and help with any youth programs even if it's a last minute ask. You always make the time! Thank you for umpiring all the... games. Thank you to all Teams that participated and competed today! Tennant Creek, Alicurung Women and Elliott. Special Thank you to Sam Maccarrone and his staff for being well organised and travelling 250km with his team to Tennant Creek for the competition. This wouldn't have happened without all your contribution, support and assistant. Thank you all for a great and fun competition today! We were blessed by showers of rain at the end of the day. 08.01.2022 An enjoyable afternoon watching teams of men, women and children playing cricket here in Tennant Creek. The game between the BOBS Cricket Club (which includes P...atta Ward Councillor Jeffrey Mclaughlin) and the Elliott Cricket Team has just finished with the BOBS now reaching 3 wins and no losses so far. The Rossy Williams Shield commenced on Friday and finishes tomorrow so if you’re in Tennant Creek drop in for a look. - Steven Edgington

04.01.2022 Female and Male community Teams within the Barkly region such as Elliott, Alicurung, Ampilatwatja and Tennant Creek participated and competed in the Barkly Regional basketball competition 2017. From this competition potential players were selected to represent the Barkly at the Southern Cup Tournament held in Alice Springs in December 2017. Thank you to Alice Springs basketball Association for umpiring the semi final and grand final games and also Thank you to our guest speak...er the honourable Mayor of the Barkly Steven Edgington for attending the presentation and speaking to all participants. Thank you to Anyinginyi Sport and Rec for the support and to those who volunteered their time to umpire some games. Overall Competition Results Female Winners 2017- Elliott Female Runners up 2017- Alicurung Community Male Winners 2017- Tennant Creek Male Runners up 2017- Ampilatwatja Community Male leading scorer- Patrick Young from Elliott Community Female Leading Scorer- Marazita Bill from Elliott Community Best Female Player- Marazita Bill from Elliott Community Best Male Playre- Mathew Green from Tennant Creek Most Valuable Female Player- Levina Shannon from Alicurung Community Most Valuable Male Player- Peter MaCormack from Ampilatwatja Community

04.01.2022 This was the third time in a row for our Barkly Regional Council Community Services Team to host the competition with the support of the Alicurung community, Mr Green- Barkly NT AFL, Alicurung Art & Gallery Centre, Alicurung Police and NDIS. AliCurung Tigers won the competition against Aliroos. Best on the ground in the grand final from each team was awarded to Nickie Pulson (Aliroos) and Garry Small (Tigers). Best on the ground for the overall competition was awarded to Josiah Riley from Aliroos. Special Thank you to the Alicurung Age Care Coordinator and Staff for providing a delicious and healthy Potato salads and Pasta Salads to go with the BBQ.



01.01.2022 This was the second time Barkly Regional Council Community Services Team hosted the AliCurung AFL NAIDOC Competition in Alicurung with the continuous support of Alicurung community, Mr Green- Barkly NT AFL and Alicurung Art & Gallery Centre. Mc Claren Tigers, Warrabri and Aliroos competed in the comp. Mc Claren Tigers won 11-2-68 against Warrabri 7-8-50 in the grand final. Congratulations to Shaquille Johnson from Tigers and Josiah Downs from Warrabri for best players award in the Grand Final

01.01.2022 This comp was held on 16 and 17 June 2018 for 5x Different Remote communities within the Barkly Region but unfortunately other communties could not attend due to family reasons and funerals. The comp was played between Ampilatwatja, Alicurung and Tennant Creek. Congratualations to Tennant Creek as 2018 Winners and Alicurung Community Runners up.... Special awards to the following players: Best Batter overall- Olivia Fry from Tennant Creek Best Pitcher overall- Pathua Ali from Tennant Creek Best Feilder overall- Alisha Petrick from Ampilatwatja Most Improved Player- Verona Brown from Alicurung Best player in the Grand Final- Zaramia Kidd from Alicurung Congratulations to all teams that competed this year 2018.
