24.01.2022 Feeling a bit melancholy tonight writing my last Parma Night post. I worked out it is the 307th post for Parma Night. Poor old Kath has been the fodder for a lot of those posts as have a few other locals (Whippet Nye comes to mind). It’s been great fun writing them after a couple of Brandy ‘n Cokes (or more) in the shed. I will certainly miss it. Hope you have had a laugh along the way and here is one last ALMOST true story to finish off: A couple of local blokes (who shall ...remain un-named, let’s call them Merv and Tony) headed out fishing at Toc a couple of weeks ago and after a few beers in the boat Merv said to Tony: Mate, if I snuck over to your place and had wild sex with your Mrs while you were out and she got knocked up and had a kid, would that make us related? Tony replied: Well mate, I dunno whether that would make us related, but it sure would make us even. Ya don’t want to know what happened next. That somehow leads me into tomorrow night’s PARMA ‘n POT Night. 23.01.2022 To everyone that has wished us well, our sincere thanks. If I tried to reply to everybody the Brandy and Coke would kick in half way through and I would be talking Congolese or some other strange language. We are staying in the area, building in Barooga again, so Kath can have her Vegie Garden and Chooks. Our watering hole will still be the Pub, so we will still catch up with everybody. 23.01.2022 Last night Order Up was Closed for Delivery. This was my knacker-up as I had closed it for delivery on Sunday night for the stock take night and when I changed it back on Monday morning, I forgot to save before I exited. Deliveries are definitely available as you will now see. It wasn’t a good night for me last night, our first night home together for a bloody long time. Kath went to the toilet and when she came back down to the Shed, I was running around with a rolled ...up copy of the Herald Sun. She said: What are you doing ya silly old beggar? I said: Swatting flies. So far I have got 3 males and 2 females. How do you know what gender they were? Kath said. Easy I said, 3 were on my stubbie and 2 were on your phone. It got ugly. 01.01.2022 Well, this is something I didn’t think I would be writing about for quite a while yet. We have been at the pub for almost five and a half years now and have enjoyed every minute of those years. We have made some good friends and have had some great times and hopefully been good community citizens. We were made an offer on the pub recently that was just too hard to refuse and have accepted. Our last day will be November 16th. We have been made offers previously and althou...gh the money was right, the people weren’t, as we were not prepared to hand the pub over to people who didn’t have a sense of community and have a sense of care for the more vulnerable in our community. The new owners are experienced publicans who know the importance of community interaction and empathy towards the less fortunate. We have met with them several times and we are confident that they will be great contributors to the area (I will probably still have to write the jokes for them on Parma Nights) We look forward to catching up with everybody over the next 8 weeks and rest assured there will be a shindig before we go to thank everybody for supporting us over the years.
