08.01.2022 Hello everyone, I just wanted to send a quick note to update you on the latest information regarding a possible return to play. As you know, Netball SA along with the SANFL, Tennis SA, FSA (soccer) and Basketball SA had a phone conference with SA Sports Minister Corey Wingard late last week to discuss the return of community sport.... Unfortunately, I cant report that a date has been set yet. The Minister repeated the importance of community sport and encouraged us all to be ready for a return. He also asked us to think outside the box and consider ways we might be able to restart organised activity (of some sort) while maintaining existing COVID19 safety measures such as social distancing and hand-hygiene. Tricky! So while nothing concrete emerged from the meeting, I remain positive that Season 2020 is still a distinct possibility. South Australias COVID numbers are very low and appear steady. SA schools have reopened today. The South Australian government has indicated it wants sports to return as soon as possible. The Federal Government is about to release some specific sports principles and has indicated it will be easing some restrictions. That being said, Netball SAs position remains as it was that the season is on hold until May 31 but we want to be ready to get on court as soon as we can. Were now putting together some options for how Associations might manage a shortened season and were happy to work with you to put that planning in place. At the same time, please encourage your teams, your players, your officials to examine the resources available on the Netball SA website to keep fit, better your skills and just stay in contact. On-going communication One of the clear messages that emerged from last weeks Council Meeting was the need for Netball SA to do better when it comes to communication. Its a message I have absolutely taken onboard, so you can expect a regular stream of updates from myself and others, as we manoeuvre through this unprecedented situation. If any of you have any specific issues youd like me to address, or any great ideas in general, please get in touch. Yours sincerely, ronwyn Klei Chief Executive Officer Netball SA

06.01.2022 Barossa Light & Gawler Netball Association Announcement The last few weeks there has been much discussion around the viability of Netball within South Australia. On May 9, Netball SA advised that the SA Government approved a structured return-to training plan for community netball and provided a framework for resumption of netball in the Covid-19 environment. Club Presidents meet last week and were informed of the stringent guidelines with the increase workload of volunteer...s to adhere to involving hygiene practices and infection control. Also discussed was the financial impact it would have on Clubs with the potential of no spectators. Clubs were asked to vote on whether they wanted to continue with a reduced season under those guidelines, with a majority decision by the Board received. It is for these reasons the Barossa Light & Gawler Netball Association announce that the 2020 season will not be going ahead. Whilst people may be disappointed about this decision the safety of all our netball communities including players, coaches and spectators is our number one priority. During this difficult time, we encourage everyone to stay active at home, practise safe social distancing, continue hygiene practices, and enjoy this extra time with family and friends. We will return in 2021 for a better season.
