20.01.2022 DIRECT FROM BVABA REMINDER FOR ALL GAMES There have been a number of cases of parents arguing with referees, re shorts in particular, and we would you to remind all your members of the following: UNIFORM CODE No pockets, bows, laces or any other adornments are allowed on shorts or singlets this is a FIBA rule and applies to all competitions as these types of things are an injury hazard.... HAIR PLATTS ARE NOT ALLOWED on any players, nor are bows or any other type of tie that can catch a persons finger. Long hair must be tied back in a pony tail that does not whip around in such a manner that it could hit another player this is at the discretion of the senior referee on the game. FINGER NAILS must not protrude beyond the tips of the fingers JEWELLERY Jewellery of any kind is not permitted while playing. The referee can stop any player entering the game for any breach of the above. SPECTATORS All spectators for court 2 must view the game either from between courts 1 and 2 or from the squash court end of the court. Spectators are not allowed on the players benches and must be a minimum of 2 metres away from the players benches and the score table (this is a FIBA rule). No spectators are allowed to view the game from anywhere within the court area, including the ends of the court (ie all spectators must be on the green carpeted areas between the courts). COURT AREA No persons can enter the court area for any reason during the game unless they have been asked to by the referee. Copies of our By-Laws can be found on our website By- Laws - Barossa Basketball Association - SportsTG and the FIBA rules can be found at FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE BASKETBALL (fiba.basketball).

19.01.2022 RETURN TO BASKETBALL TIP | Please leave promptly after your game We ask that at the end of your game you collect your belongings and leave the stadium promptly so that the next groups can enter. Post game talks will need to be done away from the courts and outside of the stadiums.

17.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL IN THE BVABA; Due to the announcements made this morning by the Prime Minister of Australia, INDOOR gatherings of 100+ people are now banned - FRO...M THIS TIME ONWARDS - meaning that the current Summer Season 2019/20 that we were so hoping to be able to finish - is now SUSPENDED! Games that were scheduled for tomorrow night (Thursday) will now not take place, and this will mean the end of the minor round. It also means that the planned grand finals will not take place next week as hoped. These decisions have also been made in consultation with The Rex management. BUT - Not is all yet lost - talks have started to try and run the finals at a later date - with the June Long Weekend a possibility where we could run semis, prelims and grand finals over a couple of days - stay tuned for that! The BVABA Committee are saddened to make this decision as we thought it was important to finish the season for our players - but changes have forced our hand - and we thank you all for your patience in all this! Regards Andrew Warnest BVABA President See more

08.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT From BVABA As everyone would be aware, Summer Season 2019/20 was not able to be finished due to COVID-19, and after due consideration to all options, as well as waiting to see where this pandemic would lead, the BVABA Committee has been left with no other option than to call time on the Summer Season. Teams that finished 1st and 2nd at the end of the minor round, or last round played in the case of under 14’s, will be declared the premiers and runners-up, with t...he 5th and 6th ranked teams in under 12 girls being the recipients for division 2 (as what would have happened had finals been played). The BVABA Secretary, whose work load in his professional life has doubled due to COVID-19, is looking to double check all of the premiership tables over this coming weekend, so from next week the winners in each of the grades, junior & senior, will be announced, as will the MVP’s in the junior grades (these will be checked this weekend as well). Once restrictions have been lifted, the BVABA will look at holding a ‘presentation day’, where everyone will be invited along, with all of the trophy recipients presented on the day, and photographs taken, team and MVPs. In regards Winter Season, the BVABA Executive and Committee will continue to monitor all developments, including working with The Rex, with a decision having to be made regarding Winter Season 2020 by the end of May to make it viable and worthwhile for everyone. At present it doesn’t look overly positive that a Winter Season can be held, BUT, it does look more positive that Summer Season 2020/21 will be able to start as planned in term 4 of the school year (as is normal) and that our Junior Tournament will also be able to be run we will keep everyone in the loop; as soon as we know, you will know!! The BVABA thanks every one of our record 900 odd players, coaches and referees, as well as parents and supporters, that took part in Summer Season 2019/20, it was challenging with such a huge competition (with games having to be played at Nuri High), but it was fantastic to see so many playing hoops in the Barossa, and we hope to see you all back on a court in the very near future!
