19.01.2022 Plastic Fantastic! Did you know that ammonia is a waste product of fish metabolism and high concentrations can be toxic? That's why biofilters that hold biomedia like this polypropylene disc, form part of the filtration process to help keep the water clean. The biomedia provides the perfect surface for the growth of a bacterial community that converts harmful nitrates in the fish waste to less toxic substances. The more complex the design, the greater surface area there will ...be for the bacteria to grow. 15.01.2022 Barra and Champagne Did you know there is a petition to ensure only Australian fish can be sold as barramundi? It's because 60 per cent of fish sold as barramundi in Australia is actually imported Asian Seabass, and Aussie fishermen just aren't buying that....
