25.01.2022 How good is a draught beer at the Barracks! It was great to see so many of you back at the Club on Friday, with congratulations and a huge well-done to all the Barracks team. We appreciate your co-operation with the restrictions that we are required to enforce. Government regulations are changing frequently and we have had to make a few more tweaks to our service: . We have received guidance that the maximum number of customers on the ground floor at any time should be limi...ted to 32. When we reached that limit on Friday, we smoothly accommodated further members in the level one bar area. Our bar service capacity is being refined and we hope to get more good news to you shortly. . The outdoor terrace has been designated beverage-free to improve turnover among those of you who wish to smoke. Terrace capacity is limited to four people at any time, so we ask for your consideration of others by not lingering after you have finished a cigarette and returning promptly to your seat (and drink) inside. . Keep an eye out for news on the resumption of dining service in the Barracks Restaurant. . The gremlins beat us to the televisions but we are getting the signal fixed. Who wanted to watch Storm beat the Rabbitohs anyway ... . Bulk beer supply remains problematic so were still doing bar-tap bingo. Orders are submitted frequently but several expected deliveries did not eventuate. Reschs draught (among others) is still not available and we were blessed with receipt of just one (!) keg of VB, so apologies for any inconvenience when that was exhausted on Friday evening. We all look forward to further easing of government restrictions and to seeing you back at the Barracks shortly. The Club is closed until Tuesday, 9 June and we wish you all the best for a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

25.01.2022 The news youve all been waiting for!

24.01.2022 Just one more sleep .... weve had a visit from the floor cross marking fairy and we look forward to reopening for bar service from 11:00am on Friday, 5 June! (We will be closed for Mondays public holiday). Our wonderful staff members have been hard at it in recent weeks - literally on their knees at times - to get the Club ready and sparkling for our reopening. They have done a great job. We need to remain compliant with a raft of regulations around customer capacity, regis...tration, spacing, hygiene, etc and you will notice these changes as you enter the Club, one person at a time. These changes will be detailed separately but the key aspects are that you must individually register as you enter the Club, be seated to consume beverages and respect social distancing protocols at all times. Please ensure that you have your membership (or license) card with you. We get that some other venues may have lesser standards but, as we remain subject to random inspections by licensing authorities, we are managing things correctly. Some of our usual products are unavailable until suppliers can fully recover. Your patience with our staff members, observance of their directions and respect for everyone will help ensure that our reopening is successful. We look forward to welcoming you back.

22.01.2022 ATTENTION: NPL Poker Players ..... we have had to cancel NPL on Wednesday nights, until further notice, due to a range of Covid-related complications. The Club is open as normal (but not until real late) so you are still welcome to pop in and catch up with each other over a beverage and/or bite to eat.

19.01.2022 To all our thirsty members and visitors: Clubs will be permitted to open from early June, minus todays "maximum 10 diners who must remain seated at all times" restrictions but still with limits around how many people can be in a venue at one time. Our intention is to provide you with an official opening date - for each of the main bar and the Barracks Restaurant - once we have sufficient clarity on specific guidelines. Our COVID19-compliant operations will differ from how we... have traded in the past. The main priority is for protection of the health and safety of our members, staff and the broader community. This means that the Club will have additional protocols in place when we reopen, including social distancing provisions, being seated while consuming beverages, enhanced hygiene and cleaning regimes, collection of information from EVERYONE upon entry for potential contact tracing and modified service models. Your full co-operation is essential for the Club to reopen. We expect that, on the ground floor, our usual hot snacks and bar nibbles will be available in conjunction with (initially) slightly fewer than our normal beer products on tap; Keno will be running and the gaming area will have fewer than normal stools available - but you will need to be seated to remain in the gaming area. The outdoor terrace will have a five-customer-at-a-time capacity (as in March) so our visits to the terrace must be considerately time-limited. The Barracks Bistro and bar will not operate while restrictions are in effect. Resumption of NPL Poker and Trivia Nights still need to be confirmed. The Member Badge Draw and (2nd/last) Friday Raffles will recommence as normal. Free wi-fi and the ATM should be back in business, although we will welcome cashless payment at the bar. Seatings in the Barracks Restaurant, once resumed, will require a prior telephone booking and must be limited to a maximum group size of 10 diners. We will detail all of the requirements for attendance in the Restaurant in the near future. Stay tuned for more details and we look forward to welcoming you again, safely, very soon.

19.01.2022 You may have heard of further changes from today, pertaining to Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order (No 4) Amendment Order (No 2) 2020 under the Public Health Act 2010 and this is to reassure you that the Club continues to comply with each of these continuing iterations! We are a "COVID-SAFE" venue and, from today, group sizes must be of no more than 10 people. This means 10 or less sitting together in a bar area, making a reservation or ...dining together. For now, our Member Badge Draw, happy hour pricing, raffles and Trivia remain on hold. We are working with the tournament organiser for NPL poker to see if we can safely have poker back at the Barracks from early in August.

17.01.2022 The Clubs reopening is progressing slowly and with the highest regard for the safety of members, visitors and staff. All of the Covid-19 hygiene and distancing restrictions still apply, so (subject to capacity constraints) we are able to meet in groups of up to ten and must be seated while consuming beverages. The Barracks Restaurant has reopened for lunch from Tuesday to Friday. With reduced seating available, we ask that you make a booking by telephone on 9299 3688 (option... 2). Carlton & United Breweries is still recovering its bulk beer supply and, if your preference is Reschs Draught, VB or Carlton, we now have them back on tap. Kegs of Pure Blonde and Cascade Light remain unavailable but we have some temporary alternatives. Safety precautions mean that our Member Badge Draw, Friday raffles, NPL poker and Trivia Nights are still suspended for the foreseeable future. Keno and d i s t a n c e d gaming are back in operation for your enjoyment. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding of our (Covid-trained) Club staff members guidance so that we can all stay safe and compliant with government regulations.

16.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to our community As you may remember not all that long ago, in 2020, ALL clubs and pubs were shut. No schooners,... no poker machines, no gambling, no catching up for drinks with friends, no night out for dinner. No jobs Then the government allowed them all to open back up BUT with restrictions !!! limited group numbers, keeping 1.5 meter distancing, No mingling, The big one YOU MUST REMAIN SEATED AT ALL TIMES IN ALL AREAS no exception. So when you walk into your next licensed premises and you roll your eyes because you have to stop to give your details and contact number, please remember, we are just doing our jobs to try stay open for YOU. Dont be that person who has to be constantly told to keep seated or question why you have to sign in and out of the club and frustrate the staff for doing their job. The government has put in these restrictions and we MUST follow them in order to stop any spread in clubs and pubs, so we dont once again loose our jobs and you can continue to enjoy a cold schooner with your mates. Were in this together!

15.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. ... Lest we forget

02.01.2022 Calling on Endurance, Mateship, Sacrifice and Courage this ANZAC Day ... This year will be the first year that most Australians will miss an ANZAC Day Dawn Service at their local RSL Club or community cenotaph to pay their respects to Australian soldiers past and present. Anzac Day is a symbolic day for Australians and New Zealanders and the RSL & Services Clubs Association is encouraging Clubs and their local community to mark Anzac Day by Respecting the Day from their homes. As a community we must all still take the time to stop on ANZAC Day and remember those men and women whove made incredible sacrifices for others during past moments of conflict and crisis. As you may know Respect the Day is a campaign to remind people of the special significance of ANZAC Day and to encourage Australians to reflect on this sacred day. This ANZAC Day is an opportunity to reflect on how lucky we are, the sacrifices that have been made for us to live in a free and fair nation. It is a time to reflect on the importance of peace but also how lucky we are to be Australian. Sharing a beer and playing a game of two up is one of the many traditions Australia has on ANZAC Day, but this can still be done at home or via video apps like Zoom. Garrie Gibson, CEO of the RSL & Services Clubs Association said, the qualities of the Anzac Spirit Endurance, Mateship, Sacrifice and Courage were particularly applicable for Australians amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic challenging Australians in many ways we need to call on the ANZAC characteristic of Endurance during this time to help us stay connected with our fellow human beings. One advantage we have during this crisis is access to technology. We can still experience ANZAC Day - all you need is an internet connection. Live stream the Australian War Memorial Dawn Service via the ABC from 5:30am or play the Ode and Last Post via YouTube to create your own Dawn Service with your family on your driveway or balcony. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLcTwQV6EXI

02.01.2022 Dear member As you are aware, the Club has been closed due to the COVID-19 illness affecting the whole of Australia. In order to do this, we have designed a survey which we would like you to complete, so that we better understand your thoughts and expectations. Please click on the link below, or copy and paste the link i...nto your browser, and answer the questions we have put together. There are also some spaces for comments. Once completed, please click the DONE button at the end of the survey and your results will be anonymously saved. Your answers are confidential and will not be attributed to you personally.
