20.01.2022 #bunheadsunday Beats in ballet are when the legs tap together. We try for our fitness audience to keep the corodination simple so that it doesnt stop them from a great cardio burst in the class.... Modification: face to barre to use it to help propel you or turn the hips slightly more parallel and sit the hips back to limit the knees from too much rotation if the client cant sustain external hip rotation whilst jumping.

19.01.2022 #fridaythighday Warning this quadriceps burn requires mild co-ordination. Hehe Nickname: the Charleston... Tip: For more quad work slow it down and add a deeper pli in each position. For more fun and cardio, speed it up with the music.

17.01.2022 #bunheadsunday Blend the ballet developpe with a side lying Pilates position and you have a training tool for dancers or a great hip and glutes exercise for your fitness clients. The difficult element is to remain neutral in the pelvis whilst having the strength to maintrain turnout in the working leg.

17.01.2022 #musclesmonday Taking the shape of chest press and turning it into a low impact exercise that burns! Training: Upper Deltoid, Upper Trapezius and Shoulder Stability exercise.... Whilst we are engaging the upper traps we are watching that the lower traps are drawing down at the same time to keep the shoulder in a relatively neutral position.

15.01.2022 #tightarsetuesday A 2 for 1 deal. Strengthening the shoulder and side plank whilst the glutes and hips fatigue lifting the leg.... Variations for your floor glute work! NB: to make this exercise a little more balletic try turning the hips into external rotation.

15.01.2022 #fridaythighday Grand 2nd pli with heel lifts and leaning Sometimes its fun to add a little arm flow

14.01.2022 Which one of these is your favourite way to cue? Tell us some of your go-to cues in the comments Verbal cues are spoken cues best used when setting up a large class for simpler exercises. Examples include "extend the arm to the sky". Imagery cues help clients understand how to move and how they should be feeling. It also makes classes more fun! Examples include thinking of the pelvis like a bowl of water; if it tips, the water spills. This assist clients in maintaining... a neutral pelvis. Tactile cues are great for assisting an individual client's alignment by guiding the area of the body into the correct position. If a client does not understand a verbal or imagery cue, try giving a tactile cue!

14.01.2022 #tightarsetuesday Parallel superman This adaption of the arabesque is part of the standing glute series.... Dont be fooled. The real working muscle is the standing leg glute which is maintaining a neutral pelvis and stillness in the supporting leg.

14.01.2022 #tightarsetuesday This is a 2 for 1 deal! Work out the Glutes with Attitude position on all 4s. We also added the ball for extra hamstring engagement. But wait... put your hand on your hip and your abdominals will fire working to keep you stable.

13.01.2022 #flexitwednesday Three legs swing variations. 1) Front and Back 2) Side to Side ... 3) Figure 8. A ballet hip warm up that is great for clients, to loosen the hip and work on dynamic flexibility. These swings feel great and are fun and can be made into flowing sequences. Technique tip, soften supporting legs to encourage the quads to support the knee and slightly bend the shining leg to take out the hamstring stretch for clients and keep the juicy swings loosening at the hip joint.

11.01.2022 It seems like too easy of a mistake to make, but we've all been guilty of this at some stage! Always remember to position yourself where clients can see you, even if you have to get off your instructor mat

09.01.2022 Time for a challenge pull-ups, but make it barre! Try it back-facing, side-facing or barre-facing

08.01.2022 #flexitwednesday Needing some stretching sequences for your classes? Search our #flexitwednesday for some inspo at the barre

08.01.2022 #sixpacksaturday This is not just a single leg lift. Try to stabilise the plank whilst sliding one leg to retire.

07.01.2022 #firstdayofsummer One of my favourite times of the year. The official start of beach, sand, surf, sun and holidays....heres wishing you a fabulous 2017/18 Summer. Bring it on Thanks for the great pic Adelaide Is Rad

04.01.2022 #flexitwednesday Lifting and holding your leg in the air is a unique movement mostly found in ballet. The hip flexors and quads work very hard doing this and love a good stretch after contracting. Stretches respond best with 30sec to 1 min holds

04.01.2022 #thursdayburnday Can you hold right angles with feet on the barre? Try 1 minute holds or walking in and out for an upper body burn

04.01.2022 #flexitwednesday When transitioning from a series of arm exercises on the floor up to the barre, flow into a shoulder stretch hanging from the barre on your way to standing.

02.01.2022 #fridaythighday Lifting the leg and holding it off the floor. This will challenge even the strongest of your clients as their quads and hip flexors are working at their end of range.... Aim for high reps and small movements to build endurance.

02.01.2022 #thursdayburnday Army crawl... speaks for itself.

02.01.2022 #thursdayburnday A bit of attitude! Holding the ball behind the knee helps a non-dance trained person to emulate the ballet Attitude position. The hamstring engages to hold the ball. The small pulses at end of range is working through all the glutes muscles from the side to the back.

02.01.2022 Do you have clients guilty of this? It's definitely one to look out for with ex-dancers!

02.01.2022 #positiveenergy

01.01.2022 #sixpacksaturday We love this version of the Pilates teaser or the yoga boat pose. The theraband helps people who have a hard time doing roll ups to get a great burn!

01.01.2022 Stretch deep into the TFL muscle with this barre stretch: be sure to cue clients to lean the hips as far as they can, and press the outside foot into the floor to deepen the stretch.
