25.01.2022 | FASCINATING CREATURES OF THE SEA Here is one of the many spectacular marine creatures of the Great Barrier Reef.... Shrimp Mantis. And despite its name, it is actually not a shrimp or a mantis, but a Stomatapod which is distantly related to shrimps, lobsters and crabs. According to the Guinness World Records, these critters pack the most powerful punch in the animal kingdom And, despite their strength ,they also have incredible vision with each eye being able to move independently. It is believed that they have the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom. For example, they have 12 to 16 photoreceptors compared to the human’s 3 types of photoreceptors! As pretty as they are with all their colour, they are known to be very aggressive and territorial.
