13.01.2022 The 20th March 2016 was the 10 year anniversary of the Category Five Tropical Cyclone Larry crossing the coast near Innisfail North Queensland. The Barrier Reef Motel was privileged to welcome back and accommodate Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Lynne Cosgrove. Sir Peter Cosgrove led the regions recovery effort after the cyclone and was welcomed back to Innisfail. While in Innisfail they were able to visit the annual Feast of the Senses market day and catch up with the locals.

09.01.2022 Due to our chefs having their annual holidays and the restaurant having scheduled maintenance, Reefs Restaurant and Cat5 Bar will be closed from close of trade on 21st December and reopen to the public on Monday 21st January 2019. We wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year. The motel is open for our regular guests and the travelling public with breakfast still available. Generally start time would be 6.00pm until finish on a roster basis Monday to Friday and maybe some weekends for functions ... Ideally a person who is friendly, enthusiastic, hardworking and able to learn quickly and work as a team would be suitable for the job ... An RSA would be required .... 03.01.2022 Sorry to say that our fish tank had to be dismantled and the fish were donated to a better home. RIP Fish Tank
