18.01.2022 Is there anywhere else in Perth you'd like to see pedestrian and/or cycling infrastructure improved? The State government has announced new pedestrian and cy...clist bridge, costing an estimated $50 million, will be built across the Swan River next to The Causeway. Transport Minister Rita Saffioti MLA said the new bridge would take pedestrians and cyclists off the nearby bridge. "The Causeway is one of the busiest connections into central Perth, and the current path has long been recognised as too narrow to accommodate demand from people walking, running and riding," she said. "he shared path is uneven and becomes congested causing conflict between cyclists and pedestrians, with more than 1,400 cyclists and 1,900 pedestrians using the path daily." She said the new bridge path will be at least six metres wide and is set to have dedicated cycle and pedestrian lanes. The bridge will be comprised of two river crossings 250 metres on the Victoria Park side and 140 metres on the City of Perth side connected by a 270 metre path through Heirisson Island. It will also sit about 2.8 metres higher over the Swan River than The Causeway. The State Government has also announced a further $10 million for other cycling projects, including: $3 million for the Soldiers Road Shared Path, connecting Mundijong to the Byford Town Centre. $2 million to design and construct a north-south bicycle route along Bennett Street in East Perth, connecting Riverside Drive to Royal Street. $2 million for an east-west bicycle route along Moore, Wittenoom and Nile Streets in Perth and East Perth, helping to connect Barrack Street Bridge to Matagarup Bridge. $1.5 million for path and lighting upgrades along the existing shared path that connects Waterbank Perth to the Matagarup Bridge. $1.5 million to improve safety and connectivity around RAC Arena.

16.01.2022 Our office has been inundated with queries regarding payment summaries for employees. Please keep in mind, that since 1 July 2019, if you employ staff, then you must be on top of your obligations via the ATO Single Touch Payroll System. Although additional compliance is seen as a hassle for some employers initially, in the longer term, it will actually make your payroll reporting much easier. Most software providers have Single Touch Payroll reporting functionality capabilities. If you have any queries with regard to STP, don't hesitate to get in touch.

05.01.2022 Today is Remembrance Day. Lest we forget At 11am, please take a minute in silence to remember those who died or suffered for Australia's cause in all wars a...nd armed conflicts. In case you didn't know, at 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted allied terms that amounted to unconditional surrender. On the first anniversary of the armistice in 1919 two minutes' silence was instituted as part of the main commemorative ceremony at the new Cenotaph in London. The silence was proposed by Australian journalist Edward Honey, who was working in Fleet Street. In 1997, Governor-General Sir William Deane issued a proclamation formally declaring 11 November to be Remembrance Day, urging all Australians to observe one minute’s silence at 11am Annette Green via Australian Silo Art Trail in Devenish, Victoria
