25.01.2022 Another great night performing for Tailormade Tours last night. Laughter was the best medicine with an All Aussie Group touring the NT with Fun Over Fifty. They arrived on the Ghan, so my song the "Legendary Ghan" got a run. We sang on into the night and got a little closer to the fire with each song. It's often hard to believe I'm fed & wateredand actually get to do this for a living A big thank you to Debra for bringing another great group and Leeann for grabbing my phone to take this picture. I love this time of year. Keep warm & keep singing folks. SKIP

23.01.2022 Just a reminder folks, I’m appearing at the Alice Springs Desert Song Festival on Saturday September 7th. I’ll be sharing the night with my good friends from Fiddle Sticks & Malarkey. I’ve dusted off a few old songs (hardly ever get to perform them in the Tourism Industry) and I’ve enlisted the help of the one and only Jayne Hughes; what an amazing voice. And Karen Jackson with her nimble fingers on the fiddle will join me for my song: 'I Am Your Father'. See the URL below Would love to see you there @ the Watertank Cafe. Kick off is @ 7:00pm Cheers SKIP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtoNGKgQNhA

23.01.2022 Like millions of Australians this morning, I stood in my driveway to commemorate a very different (Social Distancing) ANZAC Day. Having listened to Aunties Dawn Service on my Wireless I thought I'd perform Eric Bogles powerful dedication to WW1, 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda’; what better song to perform to those that gathered across the street. I have it in my Contract that I must be Photographed or Filmed at all times with a Soft Focus Lens. I’m thankful that my good friends & neighbours, Bruce & Joyce Clifford, in supplying these images, adhered to that stipulation admirably A very different day of respect and reflection, in honour of those that shaped our Nation. 20.01.2022 G'day to my small band of loyal followers out there in the Ether Really hoping that you're managing to cope with the fall out from this Pandemic? That you're staying safe indoors and if you're like me, and Lost ALL your work, that you've been able to tap into the support that's been offered. Not sure how I managed it ? but I'm more than grateful to have been born an Australian It's a mad world indeed. As the trend appears to be a performance over the internet, I thought I'd have a trial run regarding the Sound & Video Quality etc, etc. Well, I've discovered that the Auto Focus works at least ! Stay tuned. When I put the cat outside, I'm going to give it a go. Keep your chin up and Cheers for now SKIP

20.01.2022 Turn right at Port Augusta and then it's straight up the guts. It's good to be home, 'Out-the-back-O-Buggery', smack bang in the middle of this great Nation. SKIP

18.01.2022 A Darwin Record Shop are trying to make me famous! That's an NT Classic Album if ever there was one ! The year was 1985, the Bull Terriers name was "Bosun" and those jeans no longer fit me ! Oddly enough, I'm currently in the studio re recording a few of those older songs. I appreciate the support. Cheers SKIP

18.01.2022 For those that attended, here’s a short reminder of what we were doing in the NT, this time last year. Namely, enjoying great music, in the company of good friends, with a red or a guinness in hand. Does it get any better? At the foot of the Western Mac's, the Alice Springs Folk Club hosted the 49th Top Half Folk Festival at Glen Helen Homestead. It was a memorable weekend. This year, on the same Queens Birthday Weekend, the 50th THFF was to be hosted by Top End Folk Club at the Mary River Wilderness Retreat. Sadly, as well you know, Covid-19 caused the cancellation of many events around the country; our little Festival was not immune. The 50th will be quite a milestone folks, but it will now take place in 2021. We hope to see all you up there, this time next year. In the meantime, keep your distance, keep well & keep safe. SKIP

15.01.2022 One of my Musical (spiritual even) Homes in Central Australia would have to be The Old Quarry Alice Springs Northern Territory. This unique venue features a number of times is this little Australiana Video Clip.

15.01.2022 Thrilled to have been offered a 45 minute spot in this years Desert Song Festival; thank you Morris Stuart As I select my songs, my bracket is shaping up to be a chronology of my life. As a much younger man, walking the streets of Melbourne, then moving on to the Shearing & Prawning Industries. Next up, the love, joy & laughter in becoming a father. My good friends Jayne Hughes & Karen Jackson will share the stage & talents in a couple. All original songs folks, except for the finale, a classic by a late Canadian. A great night that includes Fiddlesticks & Malarky @ the Watertank Cafe. Hope you can make it. SKIP

11.01.2022 Struth mate..............how bloody beautiful Could it ever be more Aussie? May we never lose the urge to sing, dance and entertain our fellow Australians And on this Day in particular, we happily sing the praises of our Mothers past & present. Thank you SKIP xoxo

11.01.2022 Nice to see a followup story on our recent 49th Top Half Folk Festival in our local paper today. Thank you to Steve Menzies and The Advocate, much appreciated. Not too many changes to the comprehensive review written by Gareth Hugh Evans, but a spot of doubling up on artists in the photographic department Other performers were supplied, but there you go; grateful for what we were given. Once again, a Big Thank You to the management and staff of Glen Helen Lodge, those who p...erformed, the audience they performed to, our valued volunteers and the great sound supplied by the ever faithful, Ross Muir. (he's very good at twiddling those knobs) Apart from the odd fly and somebody mentioned dust? it was a very successful weekend. Three daze of: Music, guinness, Song, guinness, and catching up with treasured friends over a guinness. Darwin will feature the 50th in 2020, hope to see you all up there. Will there be a 51st down here in 2021 ? I hear you ask........now there’s a question. Cheers from SKIP (On Behalf of the THFF Committee)

10.01.2022 To all my Alice Springs Friends & Music Followers. Yes, I will be performing at the Watertank Cafe tomorrow as part of the Kangaroo Island (Kay-Eye) Bush Fire Appeal. However, contrary to the article in the local paper, I will not be on stage tomorrow night at 8pm. It WILL be a great night, featuring all the local Muso’s who’ve graced the Watertank's Stage over the past 15 years. Sadly, I have another performance booking tomorrow night, as such I'll be on stage in the morning at 9:30 am. So I’d love to have you in my audience for my 40 minutes spot (Prior to the fantastic House Band, ‘Malarkey') whilst you tuck into your eggs Benedict or Smashed Avo. At the same time, your attendance will contribute to the very worthwhile, "Kay-Eye Bushfire Appeal". Cheers SKIP

08.01.2022 Just have to share this with all my Music loving followers. Joe Bonamassa & friends with his version of a classic, 'The Rose' Enjoy.

08.01.2022 G’day to you all. I hope this finds you Virus Free and staying positive. As a Great Southern Island Nation we appear to be coping well with this World Wide Pandemic. And better than some. Still, it’s going to be a long road back to where we were, and heaven knows, our kids, kids may yet be paying for it all In the meantime, for us out of work Muso’s, (thank you Job Keeper) you’ll have noticed, the popular thing to do is to perform via the internet, so here I am Coming under the banner of 'Songs from the Sofa’ and courtesy of the Alice Springs Town Council, I invite you to join me for the next 30 minutes at my kitchen table. It was a new experience and quite an education. Hope you enjoy it. Keep Well & Cheers for now. SKIP

06.01.2022 I thought I might share this little slice of Entertaining History, on my main FB Page I'm sure there'd be a few of you out there, around OZ that may've been in my audience over the years ? My.... how time fly's. Stay safe folks. We can do this. When it's all over, we may need to change a few of our ways ? But we will overcome this We use to be a Country that proudly manufactured stuff ? surely we can start making PPE ? SKIP

05.01.2022 So there you have it folks, almost the start of a brand new Decade and the end of a busy 2019 Tourist Season. Despite dealing with an ongoing health issue and a few trips South to get it sorted, I still managed 95 nights performing as Barry Skipsey: Bush Musician - Singer Songwriter. How lucky am I ? Yes, I’ve had a lot of Aussie’s, Grey Nomads, in front of me, but a sizeable percentage of my audience are International Visitors. This little Video Clip covers a number of my p...erformances of an Australian Classic. I’ve been closing my Shows with this song for more than 30 years and more than happy to be paying the appropriate Royalties to do so. And as my bookings have quietened down, I’ve taken this opportunity to have a Full Knee Replacement, long overdue. Day 26 in Post Op and I’m pleased to say, it’s all going well. As part of my Physio, my Mountain Bike is up on rollers in the front living room. I’m going "No where Fast", several times a day at present. So as I work my way back to good health, I wish you all the very same, nothing but Good Health & Good Times in 2020. I thank you all for following my career, who knows, I may be famous one day ? Love, Cheers & Beers SKIP PS. And believe it or not, I'm back in the Studio, working on my next Album. Revisiting a few of my Old Songs as well as a swag of New ones. It’s been a slow process, but long overdue and would probably see the light of day sooner if I had the courage to take on Crowd Funding !

05.01.2022 Well I reckon it’s now official folks."The Worlds Gone Mad. Has 2020 gone pear shaped or what? Bush Fires, Dust Storms, Hail Storms and Floods. And now this, a World Wide Virus; struth its only March! To all my fellow Muso’s who live & work in the Tourism, Arts & Entertainment Industry, to Casual Workers in general, my thoughts go out to you all. Like you, I’m gutted and can’t quite get my brain around what's just happened. Like you, I’ve lost my livelihood; all my g...igs. And the year was looking very good. Covering 3 Locally based Tour Companies and ONE International (USA) this time a few weeks ago, I was happily working my way through a 135 + nights of Live performances booked in my dairy. And that was only up until September; there were more to come. What a difference a Pandemic can make. I’ve lost all of that work, but hey, it’s not as if I’m alone! Good grief, it’s Global. I’m going to have to reinvent myself yet again. The NT, Australia, indeed the bloody World! is shutting down. Unprecedented! And it sounds like it needs to happen if we’re to knock this thing on the head. Apart from tightening our belts, we ALL need to heed the warnings about Social Distancing. I get that, I understand that, but the panic buying in Woolies? Why? We can feed 75 Million, yet we’re only 25 Million! And don’t start me on the Bum Paper issue! OK, I’ll shut up now, or I’ll be coming across as a Grumpy Old Muso? Heaven forbid. Honestly, we're a Great Southern Land, a wonderfully unique and BIG Hearted Nation. It’s not going to be easy, but surely we can work through this? and come out the other side stronger & wiser? Keep your distance, keep up with the hygiene, keep safe, keep busy and above all..keep your spirits high. SKIP

04.01.2022 Where does the time go? It's 16 years ago today that we lost the great Country Music Statesman, Slim Dusty. I will forever be honoured that Slim recorded 2 of my songs before he left the stage. GOOD HEAVENS ABOVE on his 100th album 'Looking Forward, Looking Back' (EMI 2000) and the END OF THE BITUMEN, 'Travelling Still Always Will' (EMI 2002) As a Songwriter, I can assure you folks, it does not get any better than to have a National Icon record one, if not two of your songs. Thoughts are with Joy, Anne, David & families on this day. Thank you again SLIM, miss you mate. SKIP Good Heavens Above https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb1fqlj9F1o

02.01.2022 My little song, 'Oceanliner' continues to travel the globe From state to state in Australia to Finland, The Netherlands, over to the USA and now in Germany. A slightly different melody & arrangement, but hey, thats the Folk Tradition A big thank you to Dieter for this little clip of some very happy Muso's getting into it at a Folk Festival in Bochum. Germany. SKIP

01.01.2022 Yes, I know it will need to end eventually. And yes, I know our kids will more than likely foot the bill, but having lost ALL of my Music work, with other casual (infrequent work) Jobkeeper is keeping me afloat at present; I'm immensely grateful And yes, I'm in the process of reinventing myself, but its gunna take some time to ad another string to my bow. I do hope you'll not be pulling the plug TOO early ? Scomo ! SKIP
