22.01.2022 Received this lovely email from Lorraine. Thank you Lorraine for spreading the word in Division 4. Good Afternoon Ladies & Gentlemen I'm seeking your consideration for Barry Van Peppen, Frank & I first met Barry shortly after our arrival on the Gold Coast some 20 years ago. Even then Barry's work ethic showed he was dedicated to getting "the job done" as efficiently and quickly as possible and I believe his ethic has continued through the years.... Barry is committed to learning and serving residents of Division 4, he and his family reside in Arundel. Barry is an amiable, hard working, down to earth man with high standards. I believe he will represent this division very well and will be Your Local Voice in GCCC. He is a good listener, and is open to the concerns and suggestions of those he would represent. I will be supporting Barry at the Biggera Waters State Primary School on March 19th and I hope that in making the assumption that you all reside in Division 4, please excuse me if I have made a "booboo". What I do know Division 4 includes Runaway Bay (South of Lae Drive, Biggera Waters, Labrador & Arundel; as I haven't seen a recent map of the Division I'm not sure what the Boundaries are. In my opinion I believe Barry is the right person to represent residents, and without a doubt I would vote for him if I could, but as I no longer reside in Runaway Bay that is not possible. I understand with the "Melbourne Cup Field" of seven candidates how difficult it can be to choose your representative especially if you don't know any of them. I believe Barry Van Peppen deserves a No. 1 Vote beside his name and I'm hoping you may consider giving him your vote. Once you have made up your mind and if you consider supporting Barry would you please show your support by telling family and friends about him: I am certain that Barry would appreciate it very much if the "word" was spread. 17.01.2022 We have a traffic problem on the GC ... to many areas bottlenecking etc ... we dont have an a great system of moving traffic around problems areas at certain times ... we must all work on this together ... Attended St Vincents and Aquinas College Owner and Operator of an Entertainment Business for the last 26 years on The Gold Coast... Passionate about Division 4 in which he lives and becoming the next Elected Councillor My strengths and skills in the community over time have fuelled my passion and enabled me to become a strong advocate for the community.

13.01.2022 Last night ... I announced an important idea for my division .. in fact for all divisions ... I have tried for the past 3 days to receive some press ... all the avenues GCB & News TV have been made aware however most of them are only interested in paid advertising from candidates which is completely unfair when you have small budget to run a campaign .... I have decided that a lot of people are currently upset over how much Councillors get paid & what they put back into the... community .... So if elected on Saturday I will donated 10% of my gross wages to a local charity which I have already been in contact with ... it will be a donation over the next 4 years of $50,000 ..... Animals (cats & dogs esp.) of division 4 will be happy with the deal .... I would love to se if anyone is game to follow this lead ... instead of dropping $40,000 into your campaign on signage & letter drops from your kind sponsors in Division 4 .... why don't you really try & give something back to the community .... So, if elected on Saturday I will donate 10% of my gross wages to a local charity which I have already been in contact with ... it will be a donation over the next 4 years of $50,000 ..... Animals (cats & dogs esp.) of Division 4 will be happy with the deal !!! I will also be ensuring that money is spent wisely in your division and helping as much as possibly with community projects! 07.01.2022 MORE than one in five Gold Coast voters will sleep in, go shopping or just chill in front the television on the March 19 election day. Gold Coast council candidates are facing an avalanche of apathy in their quests to lure the voting public to the ballot box. However, one expert reckons greed could be the solution. According to Electoral Commission of Queensland statistics, just 78.9 per cent of eligible voters bothered to vote in the Coast’s most recent local election, while... more than 63,500 voters took a holiday. The statistics have led to a call from a leading community consultative expert that something needs to be done to encourage greater participation in local government elections. Public relations and community consultation expert Bruce Nelson said the government needed to look at left-field solutions to the growing problem of voter disengagement. I reckon if the government offered a lottery for those who voted in elections you’d find that voting turnout would leap, he said. I think this idea has some value ... how about you ???

05.01.2022 Once again we have been down at the Postal vote areas & its an eye opener .... hundreds of people trying to get into vote & 100's of volunteers trying to change peoples opinions as they enter .... My sugestion is - if you dont want to be hassled by volunteers - if you are coming in to vote at prepoll make sure you know what division you are first ... then you can avoid walking the green mile to vote .... good luck ... vote well...

05.01.2022 Low Budget Campaign: You may not be seeing my Corflute Signs in every street of division 4, nor receiving fancy documented flyers in your letterbox and high profile advertisments in the media. But this is not to say, that my commitment passion, values and beliefs are any different to to those that you have been seeing more of. My Policies and Ideas for the Division are equally as important , even more so different, making me stand apart from the same old policies. Please keep this in mind when making your decision on who to VOTE for on Saturday 19th March.
