11.01.2022 If you have been thinking about building a new home or carrying out an extension or renovation, now might be the time to meet with me and work through your options. The Federal Government's new $680 million HomeBuilder program announced on 4 June 2020 makes available $25,000 grants to help build or substantially renovate your home. On top of this, the West Australian Government unveiled a $117 million Building Bonus scheme to provide homebuyers who build new houses with a $20...,000 grant. How does the federal government's HomeBuilder scheme work?* The scheme is only available for contracts signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020 Construction must commence within three months of the contract date It is means-tested Only available for principal place of residence Limitations on the kinds of renovations (sorry, no tennis courts) and subject to a total value cap How does the WA government's Building Bonus scheme work?* The scheme is only available for contracts signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020 The grants will be paid to eligible applicants who enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or enter into an off-the-plan contract to purchase a new home as part of a single-tier strata scheme It is not means-tested There are no property value caps An extension to the existing off-the-plan duty rebate scheme has also been announced. The scheme now extends to contracts entered into between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020 for the purchase of a new unit or apartment, in a multi-tiered development, that is already under construction The Building Bonus and rebate scheme are available for owner-occupiers and investors, Australian-citizens and foreign persons, and natural persons, corporations and trustees I'm here to help. If you're a first home buyer, there are a range of first home buyer and state government grants, stamp duty concessions and rebates as well as the federal First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and First Home Super Saver Scheme that are available and work in conjunction with both the HomeBuilder and Building Bonus packages.
