23.01.2022 Guess why they call it butterfly bush? Richmond Birdwing butterflies feeding on Pavetta australiensis. These big beauties are another species that requires sub-tropical rainforest for survival. Their larval food plant, Pararistolochia praevenosa, is available at the Barung nursery. 08.01.2022 Male Regent Bowerbird (Sericulus chrysocephalus) putting on a rare show this morning. One of the more spectacular species that needs us to get our act together and REFOREST.

04.01.2022 A Climbing Pandanus? Yes, here on the Sunny Coast we have two species in the Pandanaceae family that attach and climb trees and scramble over shady ground and creek boulders. Showing it’s exquisite inflorescence on the range now is Freycinetia excelsa. Also pictured is the fruit of Freycinetia scandens which you can see growing throughout the gullies of Buderim Forest Park and Foote St sanctuary.
