Bill travelled around Africa and Cape ...Town, Cape of Good Hope to Perth, arriving at Port Adelaide on 18th December 1924. This diary records his experiences of the voyage and his early settlement. 17.01.2022 Just attended the Annual Lunch for Barwell Boys and Little Brothers Family and Friends. Biggest attendance ever - 67 signed in at the Buckingham Arms. This lunch takes place the last Wednesday in March each year. Lovely to welcome the second-only known Barwell widow - marvellous to meet her.

03.01.2022 Came across another Barwell Boy name this morning. Have written to his grandson regarding our Annual Luncheon. ......................... . This is my Grandfather Edwin (Ted) Richardson, born in Greenwich London Nov 1904, came to SA in 1921 as a Barwell Boy, aged 17, contracted as a farm labourer, once he arrived in Adelaide he then made his way to Wallaroo, from there he went to Arno Bay, inland Eyre Peninsula and began work on a farm, under his contract he was suppose to... live in the farmhouse, this did not happen as the farmer made him live outside in a hessian humpy, Grandpa eventually walked off the property after the way he was treated, this included withholding money owed to him, he then found another farmer who would train and employ him, this farmer treated him as an equal. Once he finished his contract he and some mates returned to Adelaide where they then on pushbikes rode up to Innamincka and did fencing. My Grandfather eventually married and became can an Electrical Engineer for ETSA, having built a house in Glandore which still stands today.
