24.01.2022 Fitting SmartShepherd Bluetooth collars onto the first mob of autumn drop lambs and their mothers. The collars are on for 48 hours, recording interactions between animals in the paddock. The data is then downloaded and analysed, with the report providing dam parentage information for pedigree.

18.01.2022 NEW POLL DORSET STUD SIRE We are very confident in the future of the prime lamb industry, and have added a new Poll Dorset stud sire to our ram team. Gooramma 190079 is a son of Hillcroft Farms 130156, a highly-proven and widely used sire in industry. This young ram is in the top 5% of industry for growth traits and has the fat and muscle figures to take the Barwon flock forward.

17.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who attended our sale today, and to the buyers and under bidders for your support. It was the coldest Barwon sale in recent years but the sun broke through the clouds towards the end of the auction. The rams are loaded and ready to get out to work.

17.01.2022 Barwon has been using SmartShepherd to collect dam pedigree information for stud lambs. While it’s a new technology and still needs a bit of fine-tuning, it is a game changer here at Barwon. We were able to assign collars to 400 ewes and lambs in 3 hours. Two days later the collars are removed and the data downloaded and analysed, with the results coming back straight away.
