22.01.2022 Hi All The COVID-19 advice from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Chief Health Officer has not changed regarding events for less than 500 people however, many health bodies including the Australian Medical Association are calling for a stronger immediate emphasis on 'social distancing' in order to slow the spread. This is reflected in recent advice from the Australian Dodgeball Federation. As such, BDA management is currently considering delaying the beginni...ng of Season 16 by at least 2 weeks (a period that will be reviewed as matters progress) as well as a coinciding 2 week break for Tuesday night Drop In (following tonight). We are also considering if this weeks Thursday Drop In session should proceed given the - so far - limited interest in attendance (based on the Facebook event). Ultimately local sport still provides great physical and mental health benefits that are still being encouraged by the Federal Government. We'd like feedback from all participants to assist us with our considerations as ultimately this action is the responsibility of the whole community. Regards BDA Team

20.01.2022 The venue confirmed the maintenance was completed this morning and we can start back tonight. See you there!

19.01.2022 Hi All As we enter the third week since the beginning of our shutdown, most of you will no doubt be aware that the restrictions set by the Federal Government on both Indoor Sporting Venues and Limits on Social Gatherings are still firmly in place with no current advice on exactly how long this might be for. While we will continue to monitor the advice, it is clear that for now at least and for the sake of all of our Members and Participants and their friends and family, we m...ust extend the shutdown until further notice. What this means for our operations: - Tuesday night Drop In Dodgeball in Armstrong Creek will be cancelled until further notice; and We hope you are all keeping well and are able to stay connected through technology. We hope to get up and running again as soon as it becomes sufficiently safe to do so. Regards Barwon Dodgeball Armstrong Creek

18.01.2022 Hi All We've hit mid-year and I am sure you are all becoming aware that the Social Distancing restrictions set by the State Government are slowly being eased. We also know most of your are very keen to get back into dodgeball. The current advice from the Health Department is that Indoor Sports venues may reopen from 22 June with the following basic restrictions:... - No more then 20 patrons are to be in attendance; - No more than 10 active participant per enclosed sporting space; - 4m2 minimum per person; and - Continue adhering to Social Spacing and Personal Hygiene protocols. Further to these restrictions, we will be subject to our venues choosing to reopen and any further restrictions they may put in place. We will be able to provide further information as we become aware. What this should mean initially for our operations as they recommence: - Participants should not attend if they are showing any flu-like symptoms or have been in contact with persons showing symptoms (and should follow official health advice); - Participants should continue adhering to Social Spacing and Personal Hygiene protocols; - Participants will be required to wash their hands upon arrival before participating; - Equipment will need to be sanitised between uses; - A Contactless Payment Option will be provided (and encouraged); - Tuesday night Drop In Dodgeball in Armstrong Creek may be be able to recommence from Tuesday 23 June at the earliest: + We will have to cap attendance at 20 people per session. Note: Match and Entry Fees will remain the same. Memberships and Registration Fees are also due for renewal, however, for those who registered and paid after 01 February 2020, you can have that Competition Participant Fees waived for 2020-2021. We will continue to monitor advice as it comes in and let you all know as plans are confirmed. As always, get in touch if you have further questions. We hope you are all keeping healthy and are able to stay connected through technology. We hope to see you all again soon. Regards Peter Dawson

16.01.2022 Fun social tournament

16.01.2022 Hi All You will all probably know by now that the Commonwealth’s revised guidelines that recommend non-essential gatherings of 100 people or more in an indoor space be prohibited from Wednesday 18 March 2020. While our operations would usually fit inside this figure, the BDA management team has taken this update as a sign of the trend towards closing down non-essential social gatherings. You may even have seen the increased restrictions on travel and events such as ANZAC Day ...Services along with continued calls from health professionals to practice as much social distancing as practical. It is with these increased recommendations in mind that we have decided to proceed with the following measures: - Tomorrow nights planned East Geelong 'Drop In' event has been cancelled; - Tuesday night Drop In Dodgeball in Armstrong Creek will be cancelled for an initial period of 2 weeks (including 24 and 31 March); and - Thursday night Season 16 Competition in East Geelong will be delayed for an initial period of 2 weeks (with Round 1 postponed until 9 April at this stage). We will continue to monitor the advice of relevant authorities and provide further updates as the situation progresses. We hope that our members and participant remain healthy in the interim and encourage all to continue adhering to recommended hygiene practices and self-quarantine in the event of showing symptoms. We'd also encourage all of our members and participants consider additional methods for employing social distancing, while keeping connected through close family and friends, small groups and online communication. Regards BDAC Team

13.01.2022 Reminder: No Drop In Dodgeball this week due to the centre being closed for maintenance

12.01.2022 Hi All Barwon Dodgeball is conscious of the current and ongoing COVID19 health issue. We are doing our best to keep up to date with Health Authority advice as it is updated. At this stage, the recommendations are to cancel any events with over 500 attendees, so Tuesday Night Drop In will continue as scheduled until further notice. The centre is not cancelling bookings at this stage. Participants are requested to stay home if they or anyone they have been in contact with in th...e last 14 days is showing symptoms of COVID19. For more information on this, check out the following link: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus You may be asked to leave if you show symptoms while in attendance. If you are attending, we ask that you practice good hygeine: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/reduce-your-risk-coronavirus-po We will also take steps to ensure the equipment is clean and disinfected and we'd encourage attendees to bring hand sanitiser if possible (we'd like to supply some but at this stage it is difficult to source).
