17.01.2022 I was privileged to work with a brilliant team during my Head and Neck fellowship in Oxford University Hospital. Here’s a shot with one of my mentors Mr Satheesh Prabhu.

16.01.2022 Elective operating is now back on! As you are aware, we have had to waitlist all the non urgent operations due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and elective surgery restrictions. The numbers in the regional Victoria are low and currently Geelong stands at only 3 active cases as of 17th September 2020. ... Please do call my rooms on 0409 616 489 if you have been waitlisted and want to proceed with your surgery on one of allocated dates. Although if you are suffering new symptoms, please do not hesitate to arrange an appointment or Telehealth consult. Once again, thank you for your patience and I really appreciate your considered support in this difficult situation. Everyone's efforts are reflected in the decreasing numbers that we are seeing in regional Victoria, and for this all healthcare professionals are grateful. #geelong #surgery #oralsurgery #covid_19 #localbusiness #epworth #oralmaxillofcialsurgery #community #healthprofessionals

15.01.2022 Uncertainty starting to clear. Well done Australia. Good timely news, and Category 2 operations to resume too... #anzaoms #ama #ada #covid #backtowork #dentist #omfs #inittogetger

15.01.2022 Great to see the restrictions in health delivery, being lifted for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in line with Dentistry returning to level 1 a few days ago. This means that Barwon Oral Maxillofacial Surgery @barwonoms will be able to treat all elective patients (extractions, dental implants, biopsies) under Local Anaesthetic in our rooms. However you still need to first undertake a quick temperature check at the front door and complete our COVID-19 screening questionnaire. F...or hospital procedures (under GA) we will still observe the recommendations from Federal Government, State Government @vicdhhs and our association @anzaoms, and perform operations only on Category 1 and 2a procedures, thus emergency and severe pain or infections only. All consultations however can still be undertaken via Telehealth or in person in our rooms with our precautions and safeguarding in place. This is a time to congratulate each other in how well we have done as a community to allow these restrictions to be lifted. However we must also not get too complacent, as we may encounter the second wave with increased community activity, which must still be considered as to how important that activity is. Remember to wash your hands, keep your distance, keep your Bluetooth on, and as Boris says stay alert! #covid19 #oralmaxillofacialsurgery #oralsurgery #dentistry #anzaoms #ada #inittogether #washyourhands #socialdistancing #localbusiness #geelong #geelongsmallbusiness #stayalert #borisjohnson

01.01.2022 First of all a big thank you from @barwonoms to all our patients that have had a pre-operative nasal swab prior to their operation under GA in the last 4 weeks. Given the spread of COVID-19 in this second wave we are now requesting ALL OPERATIVE patients (LA, iv sedation and GA) now to have a swab before the operation unless circumstances do not permit in an emergency setting for instance. This is to prevent any spread from anyone that even feels well, but may still have the... virus unbeknown to them. This free test is invaluable when it is negative, as performing procedures (aerosol generating procedures - AGP’s) in the mouth where the virus is in high concentration is high risk. It prevents spreading viral particles to any of the healthcare workers looking after you in the operating theatre with a potential infected aerosol. More importantly a negative result also means you are safe when you have a general anaesthetic, as the COVID-19!vírus can interfere with your breathing and oxygen supply at a crucial time whilst you are asleep. There are four simple requests: 1. The pre-op swab is a minimum of three days, and no more than seven days prior to surgery. 2. The contact details for the Epworth COVID-19 Screening Clinic (03 9426 0666) to make an appointment for the pre-op swab at Epworth Geelong (drive through). 3. You must self-isolate from the time you take the test, until the time of your admission. 4. We will provide a copy of the Epworth patient information brochure on self-isolation requirements. Please do read this. Thank you for helping us with these awkward measures. We really are in this together. #geelong #community #epworthgeelong #epworth #oralmaxillofacialsurgery #oralsurgery #anzaoms #covid19 #inthistogether #localcommunity
