25.01.2022 Having listened over the past three years to the Barwon community, our Partnership has made climate change, and advocating for coastal infrastructure to adapt to rising sea levels, a priority. Theres now a chance for community members to comment on the Victorian Governments new draft Marine and Coastal Policy. The policy sets out how to manage Victorias marine and coastal environment in a sustainable way to help tackle the challenges of climate change and population growth. 24.01.2022 Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority Board appointed The inaugural Board and Chair of the soon to be established Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) have been appointed following a thorough recruitment process. Establishment of a new authority is part of the Victorian Government’s landmark reforms to protect and improve the iconic Great Ocean Road coast and parks for future generations.... The Board includes a nominee of each recognised Traditional Owner group in the region, the Wadawurrung Corporation and the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation. Board members have strong links to local community groups and organisations along the Great Ocean Road and include individuals with substantial experience in marine and coastal environmental conservation, public administration and governance; tourism, and planning. 16.01.2022 $272.4 million investment in the Great Ocean Road supporting the tourism and dairy industries Minister for Roads Ben Carroll MP and Minister Gayle Tierney MP and Local MP Darren Chesseman were at the Memorial Arch to announce a $272.4 million investment in the Great Ocean Road and the tourism and dairy industries. This includes: $140 million to upgrade and improve the resilience of the Great Ocean Road so it can continue carrying millions of people each year as Victoria’s ...number one tourist route. Vital works to ensure the road remains strong such as rebuilding road pavement, bridge strengthening, geotechnical works, and safety upgrades. $115 million for upgrading the inland routes between the Great Ocean Road and the Princes Highway West, which are vital connections for the tourism and freight industries as well as local communities. $17.4 million invested in priority roads which support the Barwon South West Dairy Supply Chain including rebuilding, resurfacing and widening roads and bridges and planning for future upgrades. https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/safeguarding-victorias-most- See more

Penelopes wealth of experience was acknowledged by IPAA. She has held senior executive positions across the Victorian Public Sector and were excited to have her on our Partnership.

05.01.2022 Great to see the announcement that the Victorian and Federal Governments are partnering to build 30 new mobile towers across regional Victoria, helping eliminate black spots, boost coverage and improve safety. Partnerships are playing a major role in identifying priority locations for new coverage, and the Victorian Governments funding strategy highlights those priorities in its negotiations with mobile carriers and the Commonwealth Government. In the Barwon region we will be receiving $36.1M towards building and upgrading the following schools: $20.2 million for construction of the new Armstrong Creek West Primary School to open in 2020 $3.9 million for the design and early works of the new Armstrong Creek Secondary School $600,000 for Ceres Primary School to deliver the next stage works of their master plan... $1.6 million for Highton Primary School to upgrade and modernise facilities $1.9 million for Torquay P-6 College to upgrade and modernise facilities $1.3 million for Surfside Primary School to upgrade and modernise facilities $600,000 for Moolap Primary School to upgrade and modernise facilities $400,000 for Wallington Primary School to upgrade and modernise facilities $1.2 million for Oberon South Primary School to upgrade and modernise facilities $1.5 million for Northern Bay P-12 College Wexford Campus to upgrade facilities $300,000 for Teesdale Primary to upgrade and modernise facilities $2.1 million for Barwon Valley School to refurbish classrooms and facilities in poor condition.
