17.01.2022 Please note the earlier start time for B Grade.

17.01.2022 Perennial Grand Finalists, the Armidale UNE Outlaws, finally broke the drought in spectacular fashion on the weekend, winning both the A & B Grade Premierships in the Tamworth Baseball Association. In the B Grade final, the Outlaws came out firing and piled on 7 first innings runs to set the Cougars an uphill battle that they couldn’t match. Outlaws tallied 12 hits in the game. Matt Sullivan, Zac Wheatland, and Shane Wolfenden all collected multiple hits for Outlaws. Wheat...land and Sullivan each managed three hits to lead Outlaws, who didn't commit a single error in the field. Matt Sullivan led Outlaws with five stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 19 stolen bases. Mcguirk went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Cougars in hits followed by Trent ashen and Taylor Neisse both gaining 1 hit each. Cougars stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Mcguirk led the way with six. In A Grade, in what many spectators commented was a highly competitive and closer game than the 6 - 1 score line indicated, Brad Smith’s 114 pitch gem of an outing pitching was a highlight. Smith kept the damaging Cougars lineup to just 3 hits over 7 innings before handing the ball to Kris Bird to effectively shut the door on any comeback and finish the game. Skipper Cam Beat with 3 hits and 2 stolen bases was a headache for the Cougars defence along with Tim Voigt and Smith picking up 2 hits apiece. Cougars run came from a combination of hits from Adam McGuirk’s double on a ground ball which advanced Josh Daley to third, then Lucas Brown sacrificed ground ball to secure the RBI on Daley. The best of the batters for Cougars was Brock Ridgewell 2, Adam McGuirk 1, Josh Daley 1 and Scott Hurn 1 In closing, Outlaws as a whole only committed 3 minor errors over the entire 16 innings, with B grade not committing to these statistics. making Outlaws a very strong adversary for Cougars. 16.01.2022 END OF THE BASEBALL SEASON Tamworth Baseball Inc would like to officially announce the end of the 2021 Baseball season. Due to the current restrictions around community sport, we have made the difficult decision to end the season. There will be no finals/Grand finale. We would like to announce the minor premiers for the year ... A Grade Cougars B Grade Cougars White Congratulations to both teams, very deserving of the wins this year. We would like to say a big thankyou to all the teams and players that participated in this year’s competition during a very disrupted season, not only did we have to face COVID, but we also had a number of washouts this year, limiting game time for everyone. We would also like to thank all the officials, scorers, and supporters that show up and support our great sport each year. The committee are hopeful that as restrictions ease, we may be able to host a short 6-week competition between October and December and will keep you all updated.

04.01.2022 MINI BASEBALL information for Week 1 - 29/8/20 Welcome to mini baseball! We are so amazed and excited at how many new mini baseballers we have had signup. It ha...s far exceeded all expectations and resulted in us having to order a lot more gear. We will be at the fields under the club house, ready to meet you all from 1:30pm. We will organise the children into smaller groups ready for us to start play as soon as the first A grade game is finished at 2pm. We will play until 2:30pm. As a reminder, to play we must follow COVID safe procedures. This includes hand sanitisation, social distancing and limiting the number of people on the fields. For this reason, we ask parents to remain around the outside of fields behind the fences and also ensure they are social distancing. We will have gear available for our littler kids tomorrow with more arriving for the rest of our participants before week 2. A sausage sizzle after the game will also be provided to all Mini Baseball participants thanks to our sponsors Northgate Butchery. We hope that after Mini Baseball is over that you will consider hanging around for a little while to watch how our bigger baseball players in A Grade play the game and cheer them on. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! See more
