20.01.2022 CALL for ACTION for Mickey Moo: Mickey has been in BBNA foster carer for over 1 year now. We have had many, many people come forward to adopt Mickey, but because he suffered from severe separation anxiety, and also has a high level of reactivity to other dogs while being walked, these problems always stood in the way of him being adopted to a new family who could take on multiple issues. Mickey loves people. Our foster carers have done a lot of rehabilitation with him so fa...r. Mickey is now separation anxiety FREE, but we still need to address his reactivity on a walk. While BBNA foster carers have experience with Basenjis, to make an improvement on this problem is way beyond our skills and personal time that we can dedicate to train Mickey. BBNA are currently looking at enrolling Mickey in a 14 day training (boarding at the training school) to help him overcome his reactivity. After this training Mickey won’t be perfect as he will always have to remain on a lead for a walk, but reducing his anxiety about other dogs will help him be easier to manage. We have identified a suitable family to adopt Mickey, but we need to address his reactivity before he can be adopted. BBNA needs to raise $1,170.00 for this course, we already have received 2 pledges of $250.00 promised specifically towards Mickey’s training. Once our fund raising target is reached we will stop this Call for Action, and publish the amount raised. We will also give updates on his training progress on this page. It takes a village to help our adoption Basenjis to get a 2nd chance at the life they deserve. We are always forever grateful for all our Facebook supporters, and for any amount donated to our Basenjis. 13.01.2022 Update on Mickey Moo the basenji. We did a Call to Action a few weeks ago to help Mickey with his reactivity towards other dogs while being walked on a leash. Our Facebook page followers donated $800.00 towards his training fee of $1,200. Mickey has been boarding and training each day for 14 days. Today we picked him up. Here is a video of Mickey doing a recall off leash with another off leash dog sitting and watching. While Mickey still needs followup training I believe he has moved on positively in his learning. Thankyou for supporting Mickey on his journey. Today he goes to his new home with Jane and Alex who adopted him.
