25.01.2022 Basil and visiting artist Katie Breckon inking up one of her large stainless steel plates at Basil Hall Editions etching studio in Braidwood.

24.01.2022 Basil Hall Editions wishes all our Art Centre friends a Happy Christmas. We had our break in September, so the press and screen table will be running hot in December and January. We're printing new works for Buku Larnggay, Djilpin Arts, Ninuku Arts, Durrmu Arts from Peppimenarti and Warmun Arts over the summer. If you'd like to book Basil in for 2018, call or email soon and lets collaborate on some prints next year!

23.01.2022 Two Tassie artists working at Basil Hall Editions this week. Jessie Pangas is in her second week, while Robyn Mayo joined us on Monday. Both women will be making etchings this week and Jessie also has collagraphs to fine tune.

23.01.2022 Now showing along with many other beautiful prints from Basil Hall Editions..Garry Shead's etching "The Sculptor" at City Walk Gallery in Canberra. The mixed exhibition is on until Dec 19th. The new gallery space is up an escalator above King O'Malley's Pub in Civic. Do yourself (and me) a favour!

19.01.2022 SKOPELOS PRINTMAKING IN PARADISE 2020 Basil Hall & Steph Bolt will be running an Intaglio Workshop (ETCHING & COLLAGRAPH) in our rented studio space on Skopelos in June next year. Email Basil at [email protected] for details

17.01.2022 So everything left the studio today in this big container, bound for Canberra. I'll get to see what's in it in about 6 months, when it is delivered to our place in Canberra. The delay is while we add a bit to accommodate me and a printmaker's "stuff".... Meanwhile, the new studio is fully functional, so time to get back to some printing!

15.01.2022 At this time of year, our thoughts start to turn towards...Christmas Island. How about a presidential pardon for this highly dangerous Tamil family, ScoMo (two of whom are illustrated in the silkscreen print below)? 1000 days of banishment from their home and friends in Biloela, QLD for what? Give them a visa and swallow your pride. See this print and some other political comments from Basil Hall in the exhibition at City Walk Gallery, Canberra (above King O'Malley's Pub in Civic) until Dec 19th.

14.01.2022 I've shown this on FB before, and it is currently in our exhibition at City Walk Gallery, Canberra. Maybe our government should take their own advice re our northern neighbour, China. Stop poking the bear, ScoMo. Quiet, Australians! If you would like to acquire this print for your pool room (or living room), you can come in to the exhibition in Civic (above King OMalley's Pub). Open Tuesday to Saturday.

10.01.2022 FOR SALE! ONE ARM BANDIT (SILK SCREEN VACUUM PRINTING TABLE) After 15 years of great service at Basil Hall Editions, our silkscreen printing table is going to make way for a smaller model in our Canberra studio. The table we are selling is a Boneham 60" x 40" (that's the vacuum area, not the size of the whole table) which accommodates screens up to 1.5m x 1m approximately. It has a new motor and is in good working order. It will come apart for transport. PRICE: $1250.

09.01.2022 Basil has just run a 5 day printmaking workshop in Mittagong as part of Sturt's annual Summer School. Here are some shots of the print room, where 10 artists cut and printed reduction, multi-plate and hand-coloured woodblock prints on Japanese papers, on Magnani and as a 3 metre long concertina book. A very successful start to the year!

06.01.2022 This was a great project back in 2010: the Desert Mob Panel, a 40 piece woodblock print done in collaboration with 40 Art Centres in remote communities. The Panel, and a beautiful boxed set of the 40 individuals are both on show at City Walk Gallery in Canberra until Dec 19th (and for sale too) Here is the poster we published at the time, showing printers Basil Hall, Mats Unden, Natasha Rowell and Beth Conway and two of the artists at work on their blocks. This rare and unique piece would look great in a hotel lobby, boardroom, embassy or at Artbank! Hope to see you at the gallery Tuesday-saturday above King O'Malley's Pub in Civic. A great new space run by Nancy Sever.
