23.01.2022 The Bay & Basin Strategic Plan Committee would like your input into the panning for the future of our area. Surveys are available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BayBasinInitialSurvey or use the QR code The Sanctuary Point Bendigo Community Bank and surrounding village community representatives are facilitating preparation of a Community Led Strategic Plan for the whole of the Bay & Basin area. The purpose of Bay & Basin Community Led Strategic Plan will articulate the bro...ad values, future needs and priorities of the Bay & Basin area. Key findings of the Strategic Plan will inform planning and project deliverables for the community, Council, State Government and other partners of this community led project. The Strategic Plan is seeking input and ideas from everyone who lives, works and visits the Bay & Basin area. Initial community input and ideas is encouraged thorough a survey that can be picked up the Sanctuary Point Bendigo Community Bank or sourced on line. The initial survey, and the subsequent follow up work, will provide valuable information to understand how the Bay & Basin sees itself now, where it sees itself in the future and will set out an opportunistic pathway to move ahead. After this survey the process to prepare the Strategic Plan will involve: 1. Analysis of survey results with key existing issues being identified by themes. 2. Additional community consultation to confirm the survey findings and themes. 3. Preparation of the draft Community Led Strategic Plan for further community review. 4. Finalisation of the Bay & Basin Community Led Strategic Plan based on community feedback. Please help to ensure that the character and values of the Bay & Basin area are enhanced and protected now and into the future by completing the survey and encouraging your friends and neighbours to participate in this Community led project.

22.01.2022 Green light for Jervis Bay Road flyover 24 November 2020 A $100 million flyover at the intersection of Jervis Bay Road and the Princes Highway has been given the green light Work on the highly anticipated project is expected to start in 2022. Member for Kiama Gareth Ward says the NSW Government's preferred position for the intersection is a grade separation, also known as a flyover, which will see a bridge constructed to carry through highway traffic over local traffic.... "We can get on with planning the grade separation to make the busiest intersection south of Nowra as safe as it possibly can be," Mr Ward said. "We can now start work on the environmental assessments required. "Shelley Hancock and I have worked really hard to upgrade the Princes Hwy, and we've been able to achieve something very significant. "Shelley and I have always said we want the safest option - and cost should be no barrier." Mr Ward says there will be a public exhibition period so the community can be involved in the development of the design. He said the project was "not only greater for road safety and travel time reliability, but it’s also creating thousands of jobs". Preliminary plans involve the construction of a new highway corridor, with two lanes each way of uninterrupted highway traffic, to the east of the existing highway. Longer entry and exit lanes leading to the roundabouts on either side of the highway which are aimed at improving connectivity. A bridge for highway traffic will cross over Jervis Bay Road to allow drivers on Jervis Bay Road to travel north on the Princes Highway without being held-up by highway traffic. The highway will eventually link with the proposed Jervis Bay Road to Sussex Inlet Road dual lane upgrade. The proposal will formalise improved services for pedestrians, cyclist and public transport users following community consultation. Access into Willowgreen Road will be via a new road linked to the Old Princes Highway following consultation with property owners. According to Transport NSW, the intersection has the highest volume of vehicle movements on the highway between Nowra and the Victorian border and has been the location of 15 crashes in the past five years, resulting in six serious and 11 minor injuries. The highway has received significant upgrades in the past few years with the Albion Park Bypass set to open 12 months ahead of schedule mid-2021, the Berry to Bomaderry upgrades slated for early 2022 and the Nowra Bridge for 2024. https://www.2st.com.au/.../151610-green-light-for-jervis...

19.01.2022 Blacket Park North Playground is located at the St Georges Basin foreshore on Kevin Crescent, St Georges Basin. The playground currently includes swings, climbing structures and a slide and is coming to the end of its useful life. Council are planning for its replacement in 2021 and would like your feedback on how we can best deliver a new playground for the St. Georges Basin community. To ensure that the new playground facility meets the needs of the current and future community of St Georges Basin, Council would like to know how you currently use the facility, and what kind of playground equipment you would like to see as part of the playground replacement. https://getinvolved.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/blacket-park-nort

16.01.2022 Clr Nina DiGiglio addressed Basin Villages Forum tonight with regard to the proposal for the Expansion of Shoalhaven Hospital to the Greenfields site. We in the Bay & Basin area need to support her petition to the State Government. A band-aid proposal for the current hospital location is not the answer... a brand new facility purpose built and looking to the future is what is needed now. you can add your name to the petition here. https://www.change.org/p/greenfields-site-for-shoalhaven-ho

12.01.2022 Basin Villages Forum has been communicating with Council in regard to "The Village Green" between the shops at St Georges Basin. This lovely area has been transformed from a polluting conduit wasteland to a lovely passive recreation area for the community since 2015. However Council's zoning of this location allows for a future carpark and 2 service lanes, that if utilised takes away much of the green space. The Forum wants this area protected from development and preserved f...or the community's use. Local residents (Basin Bushcare volunteers - now Parkcare) have put their own time and energy into firstly assisting in, creating and maintaining this area for the benefit of all. We would like the community to support our plea to council to remove the wording that shows ‘FUTURE CAR PARK and SERVICE Lane from (delete- change the Classification of the) the Development Control Plan N23 (DCP N23) a plan that includes the Basin Village Green reserve on Island Point Rd at St Georges Basin. (delete - from Operational to Community). St Georges Basin is developing at an enormous rate and the bushland is disappearing, green spaces are sparse and vegetated reserves are losing connectivity so vital for biodiversity and support for birds and wildlife. To lose this reserve to car parking would be a travesty. Letters of support can be sent to Council. Reference Development Control Plan N23 (DCPN23) . See more

06.01.2022 The speed limit change will be on the Princes Highway at Tomerong . The Princes Highway speed limit from 500 metres north of Island Point Road at Tomerong to 840 metres north of Sussex Inlet Road is being reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h. A Transport for NSW spokesperson said a speed zone review was undertaken on this length of highway in response to safety concerns and a high casualty rate. "The review also took into account the safety improvements nearing completion at the Princes Highway and Island Point Road intersection," the spokesperson said. "The change in speed limit will align with the speed through the new intersection, providing road users with a stretch of about nine kilometres of the highway at 80km/h."
