25.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Tuesday the 3rd of November 2020 Hi yo all, We started the day's scratch racing with a light SW breeze, completing heat 1 in a breeze shifting to the south. Getting good at resetting the courses. Reset for the southerly... same as before, a std Olympic all buoys to starboard. ... We managed 14 races with two drops finishing at 1:45, the last 5 races in an easterly giving a gr8 shy reach to the ummm top mark? now a wing? Down to the wing? Now bottom mark? then a work towards the wharf bottom mark? Now top mark.... lol Oh well it made it interesting. Finished the lovely day in a nice 6knot wind. Hope you all enjoyed the day. 25.01.2022 DF 95 Shoalhaven Heads Sailing Report Friday the 20th of November 2020. The wind predicted was a reasonable strong NE breeze and it didn't disappoint. A good breeze that convinced a few to swap to B Rigs after lunch and tricky conditions as the gusts hit the water and fanned out. We observed social distancing by standing or sitting at least 2 metres apart on "our" beach.... 11 skippers, 9 with DF 95's, Kevin W with a soling and Geoff F came down with his new East Coast 12 and trialled it at lunch time. We did not record results for Kevin or Geoff. We sailed a standard Olympic course with all buoys to starboard. The first race was scratch and then handicap starts after that. The "top of the pops" today was performed by Dave J. The rescue boat had been dragged up on the beach and we were all happily sailing away with an incoming tide. Including the nameless 2 who were standing beside the rescue boat. As one can expect with an incoming tide, the tide came in and floated the rescue boat away. Dave J sprang to the rescue, stripped to his jocks and swam out after it catching it as it bumped into the sand bar on the other side. Well done Dave J. We should scrap your handicaps for the next week and have you off on scratch for all races. Apart from that Dave J had continuing reception problems and eventually worked out that the end of the aerial on his receiver had broken off and it was only picking up a very weak signal from his transmitter. Tim did not arrive until lunch time (had to work) and so missed the first 9 races. Tom could not get his A rig performing - back to factory settings I think. 25.01.2022 Hi all Another grest day in paradise at St Georges Basin. Course was set for the westerly all buoys to port but by the time the stragglers arrived on water it was showing some south.... A std Olympic course was set...we persevered with the westerly course until the swing to the south was definitive... requiring a start line reset and changing to all buoys to starboard. We managed 8 races before lunch when malcom joined us for the final 4 races in a shifting and falling zephyr. All races counted with 2 drops. The handicap system was the first 3 places received plus 20secs. Last 3 received minus 15secs. Kevin E making it to +100secs for the last race. All boats except #183 started on plus 20secs before handicaps were applied.#183 starting on minus 30secs whilst on his L plates Well done to all sailors. Cheers Dave P BRYC 21/7/20 Tues. 24.01.2022 DF 65 Shoalhaven Heads Sailing Report Thursday the 4th of Feb 2021. It was a typical summer's day with blue skies, a top of 29 and a Nor Easter punching in at an average of 12 to 15 knots with the final gust coming through right on 2:00pm at 19.8 knots.. Perfect for us old salts. 7 sailors and 16 races made for a great fun day. We started off with A+ Rigs but very quickly swapped to B Rigs. Except John C who only had his A+ rig and soon found that he had no control over it.... Tony joined us before lunch and sailed Tom's boat in a couple of races and then joined us for lunch. We observed social distancing by standing 2m apart on the jetty. However with a Nor Easter coming off the Tasman Sea in our faces there was no chance those nasty little Covid 19 bugs were going to trouble us. We sailed a triangle, windward and return, triangle and then a work to finish. In the first race Tim miss heard (or didn't listen) to the briefing and stopped before the last triangle. He was in the lead at the time. But we took pity on him and gave him the race. Which, as it turned out, let him win the day with a first overall. Had he come 4th, which he did do when he re-joined the race, he would have come 4th overall with 33 points. Tim gave Russell an added handicap by stomping on his prescription sunglasses. After all, it is perfectly reasonable for Russell to leave his glasses on the ground next to his boat. No Bradman awards as Chris had gear failure in race 13, volunteered to become scorer and then adjusted all the handicaps down, so nobody got to 100. Geoff F had gear failure in race 7 and as mentioned above John C was overpowered with his A+ rig. The results after 16 races with 3 drops were 1st Tim DF65 8 30 points 2nd Tom DF65 53 31 points on a count back from 3rd Russell DF 65 18 31 points 4th Simon DF 65 9 32 points 5th Chris DF 65 36 54 points 6th Geoff F DF 65 931 81 points 7th John C DF 65 818 102 points Pic - Tim, again - Tim IMG_2211 Hooroo Tom

24.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Tuesday the 9th of Feb 2021 Hiya sailors, Notice: Training day, to assist novice skippers & others with basic understanding of rig setups. Monday February 15th at 10am to 12pm at Island Point Road Wharf.... Tony & Dave maybe another to show some tips and tricks. Chase boat in attendance -$2 per rescue?? If interested in attending :- We are requesting you to email your attendance to Tom, a min. Of 3 to allow it to be held. Today started with light drizzle that finally gave up to just an overcast day. The course was set for the SW breeze. Which swung to the west during the 1st race requiring a reset. Then again after the 2nd race as it went to the NW... after lunch it started back to the SW so we ended up doing a Conga line with no challenges, so for the 4th reset - a course was set for the now SSW breeze that was fading in and out... Basically a "Standard Olympic Course" with the addition of a middle buoy allowing for a short work from the start. Keeping it to starboard (on the right), head down to the bottom mark, keeping it to port (on the left), start the work to top mark, keeping it to port, then to wing mark, keeping it to port, then to the middle buoy, keeping it to starboard. Then to the bottom mark to start work then the sausage. Then work for final time. Then to the wing mark finally back to the middle buoy with a run to the finish. At the 4th reset of the course after lunch the middle buoy was deleted allowing for the std triangle, return, triangle & work to the finish. Oh well... what a day. Dont forget the new rule changes are now in effect eg: today, Tom retiring due to a port /Stbd collision that dismasted Simon's boat, if the mast had not fallen tom would have had to do penalty turns until Simon's boat had recovered.... how many other incidents may have required multiple penalty turns?? 24.01.2022 BRYC 8/12/20 Soling Handicap Race Results Hi Sailors, We started the day in a 10knot SSE breeze, the standard Olympic course was set on the west side of wharf with all buoys to starboard. The breeze freshened with big rolling waves developing across the Basin, an early lunch was called as the course was reset on the west side of the park where the trees tamed the wind allowing sailing to continue Flatter water and then an occasional gust made it past the point to test the sk...ippers ability in keeping a straight line. Those who did not race after lunch missed some great conditions as we tried to pick the shore side lifts, and jostled for the lead. A total of 10 races completed allowing for 2drops. 21.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Results Saturday the 19th of September 2020 Hiya sale erz We started the days racing in a light NE breeze with occasional holes.... some found the underwater obstacle near the top buoy... until Malcolm had enough of hanging around on it and removed the offending branch. The wind firmed up to ENE with some south now and then. Mark tried his luck with his DF65 but a minute head start was not enough with the fleet rounding him up by the top mark.... Trev gave his newly acquired IOM a run along with Russell's 3d printed IOM and Tony's balsa planked.. Most skippers behaved with reduced collisions and taking penalties when buoys were touched. Well done guys, keep it up it makes the day more enjoyable, #45 got hooked up with #129 and when free'd decided to check out the underneath of the warf before being fished out on the other side.... oh well... Tim had trouble with his clear sails... not noticing the main clew had disconnected???? His excuse for being rounded up just before the finish. Anyways... today's course was the standard Olympic... triangle, return, triangle to finish, with boats starting on their averaged handicaps carried over from their previous results.. Today's results at break for lunch 7 races completed were.... 1st Dave J DF95 23pts 2nd Ken S Soling 24pts 3rd Russell IOM 27pts 4th Steve DF95 28pts 5th Tim DF95 29pts 6th Dave P DF95 30pts 7th Tony IOM 32pts 8th Kieran DF95 37 9th Kev W Soling 39pts 10th Trev IOM 43pts 11th Malcolm DF95 49pts 12th Mark M DF65 As by these placings and points at lunchtime you could not afford to make an error as all placings were hotly contested. Tony retired as the wind strength increased beyond his "a rig" limits and Russell broke his back stay in ht 8. Should have stuck around as the wind lightened just enough to carry the "A rig". 21.01.2022 BRYC Racing Results Tuesday the 15th of December 2020 Hi all BRYC sailors, Again a big thankyou to Ted for scribing the finishes. Our last sail on the Basin for 2020 was completed under overcast skies.. some very light raindrops at the beginning did not deter the 13 skippers from attending.... A std Olympic course, all buoys to starboard was set for the ENE breeze which was as fickle as ever, it managed to go the East just before lunch when the start and top mark were squared up for the afternoons racing. We managed a total of 16 races giving us 3 drops before finishing up for the day. Now remember... if you tack in the zone at the top mark...onto starboard... the port tack boats already within the zone at the time of your tack do not have to giveway to the tacking onto starboard boat... Rule 18... read please... & understand. Many infringements by boats tacking onto starboard in the zone at the top mark in today's races.. Also Stop barging at the start or the barge buoy will return. 20.01.2022 Saturday the 27th of June 2020 This Saturday morning a very cool Sou Wester direct from the Snowy Mountains greeted us at the wharf. It was cool but light and steady, just right for radio yacht racing with 13 racers at the start line. Our new tinnie was launched to great fanfare (with a religious blessing) and a standard windward/ triangle /windward leeward course was set. We had a mixed fleet of Solings, DF95’s and a lasar and handicapped starting.... We had half a dozen races then a break was held to devour Dons BBQ rissoles. It was great to see Fred, Jim & David Robbo back at Island Point for a catch up. Following our BBQ, the wind had swung to the South, we utilised the existing marks with a starboard rounding course and enjoyed several more races. We finished up after Tim sent his radio in for a swim, it is still sitting on the bottom for anyone willing to don their budgie smugglers and enjoy a dip in the Basin. Also Don & Tony skipped a few races to do the BBQ and Daves’ J back needed a rest so he had to pack up early. 19.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Tuesday the 1st of September 2020 Hi Sailorz... Today we started on a light SSE Breeze... triangle, windward return, triangle then finish, all buoys to port. As usual the conditions were challenging until the wind died just before lunch.... After lunch the wind came in from the east to east nor east requiring a reset of bottom mark and the start/finish line then all buoys to Starboard. Congrats to Trevor showing us how far his boat could go with no interfence from the skipper approx. 1500 metres. Thanks to George for recovering Trev's boat. Some entanglements at the top mark... please check up on the rules about tacking in the zone. Handicaps worked well as the last race saw the majority of the fleet finishing within 6m together... I'll average out the handicaps ready for next Tuesday. Sorry about my emails not going out to all... a glitch. But look at our club website for the reports on last Tuesday's & Saturdays results. Well done to Tony for his win today and reaching a Handicap of 115secs... its ok, your average will bring that down for next week. If there are no further Govt. restrictions placed on groups etc due to COVID I will instigate a point-score competition after the October Long Weekend on Tuesdays only (at this stage). The first Tuesday will be scratch, the next will be a handicap alternating etc. This will be called a Summer comp. run till 2nd week Dec. Breaking for the mad days of tourist influx...recommence 1st week Feb then to end of March. See y'all Saturday weather permitting. 19.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Results Tuesday the 10th of November 2020 Hi Sailors Today's racing started with a NE breeze fading in and out as it came over the land, houses and trees. This caused many headaches as skippers tried their best to pick the knocks and lifts working to the top mark. At one stage boats left the bottom mark on a run catching the boats in front that were working to the top mark.... yes very interesting racing.... Heat 1 & 4 saw the handicaps working well as the scribes got bamboozled by too many boats crossing the finish line in a jumble of sails all together. Remarks made to the effect a video camera on finish line was needed. Oh well. 14 boats faced the start line in heat 1, some retirements, 1 rescue. 6 heats completed before lunch with 1 drop then wind increased beyond 12knots above the "Soling 1Meter" club limit. A club general meeting is being held at the lunch break. A great day on the shores of "The Basin" mucking around "with" boats. Cheers Dave

19.01.2022 Saturday 4/7/20 - Std course was set for the light NW wind, with an extra buoy on the 1st reach leg. To allow for the expected sw wind change. All buoys to port. 3 x Solings the rest DF95s. Dave P retiring with a burnt out rudder servo in race 5. Kev. W - Too windy race 3 (should have stayed as the sun shined & winds reduced as it went more south before fading in the last race). Oh well. A new h'cap system trialled with all boats off at 30secs, thereafter 1st & 2nd boats bot...h receiving +20secs eg taken them to 50secs etc Last 2 finishers receiving -15secs taking them eg +15secs etc. With some hints & tips to George by Dave P, helped #183 to improve its finishing of each race. My suggestion is 6 to & including 8 boats will be 2 places at either end of field. 5 boats below = 1st and last only. 9 & above = 3 places at either end of field. Handicaps are only changed on the relevant place getters at either end of field. So a good sailor has to come in the tail of fleet to receive a reduction. The advatages are the faster boats stay higher in the handicaps, the slower boats are given a better advantage to sail. This system worked well, but had to be adjusted at race four to 1st place only and last place due to dwindling starters. Most boats finished on the same leg.... Another enjoyable day sailing. See you all on Tuesday . 18.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Tuesday the 15th Sept 2020 Hiya salerz Congratulations to our winner today - the Pink Panther - 17pts Simon R #22 by 1 point from 2nd place 18pts Dave P #6 then 3rd Don P #16 on a count-back from 4th Trev H both on 29pts.... Welcome to Mark with one of the first kit boats #87 still surviving and with a 27meg trans. & rec. installed. Also his first sail at the BRYC so we organised a differing wind strength and variable directions to acclimatize him to our waters. We had drifters, current and a beaut 10 knotter for the last 4 races with the occasional gusts . Watch them Solings hoot along on the back reach. A std Olympic course was set firstly on the west side for the first race before dieing to nothing requiring an early cuppa call (secret is only eat 1/2 your lunch) before the wind came in from NE requiring a course reset to east side of warf. We started with 12 boats and finished with 6. After 4 heats, 1 drop(12pm lunch break) the leaders were Tom P #216 1st 9pts on count-back from Mal G #14 9pts followed by Ken S #129 11pts on count-back from Simon R #22 on 11pts.... very close racing in the shifting conditions where not following the knocks and lifts cost you dearly. Congratulations to Dave P #6 for reaching a 80 second h'cap for the start of heat 10, others of note was Simon R reaching 45s h'cap as well as Malcolm G #14 & Don P #16 both getting up to 40secs. Mark's boat decided it wanted to go home during race 4 and beached itself, Tom's rudder had a hissy fit before heat 5, then stayed to score & handicap. Mal's 1st failure of rudder occurred in heat 5 then another occurring 2metres from the finish in heat 8 deciding circles were best, Mal managed to rectify his for the last race only missing 2 starts. Hope you enjoyed the variable conditions today, I've ordered a steady breeze for Saturday. 18.01.2022 Racing Tuesday the 23rd of June 2020. Steve Y and Malcolm rounding the buoy IMG_1618

17.01.2022 Hi Sailors We waited for a breeze for the westerly course... but the wind came from the NE then South as we began in the lightest of zephyrs. Off we all went on +20 as scratch with assistance from the tide. Kevin W starting 20 mins late catching the fleet at the top mark?? All boats loosing headway against the tide as they rounded the top mark heading for the wing buoy, spreading the fleet before the lightest of a NW breeze arrived... then off we sailed enjoying a total of 4... races which gave us 1 drop. As the results show the racing was very intense with many close finishers and 1st place shared amongst many. 1st Don P FGS 16 9 points 2nd Dave P FGS 6 11 points 3rd Kevin E Soling 217 12 points on a count back from 4th Tom FGS 19 12 points 5th Tony FGS 20 15 points on a count back from 6th Simon FGS 22 15 points 7th Chris L Soling 231 16 points 8th Malcolm FGS 14 19 points 9th Steve Y FGS 21 20 points 10th Trevor FGS 23 21 points 11th Kevin W Soling 180 22 points 12th Ted JLS 3 23 points Cheers Dave P

17.01.2022 DF 65 Shoalhaven Heads Sailing Report Thursday the 26th of November 2020. 8 skippers arrived to a delightful but gusty and tricky NE light breeze.. We all sailed all races with A + rigs. The course was a standard Olympic with a kink. In the first race the kink was in the first reach to the wing mark. In the rest (after the course had been reset), the kink was in the work to windward, just to make things interesting We observed social distancing by standing 2m apart on the bea...ch. All races were handicap starts except the first which was scratch. All buoys to starboard. The wind got progressively stronger during the day, but we stuck with the A+ rigs. Weed was a slight problem during the middle of the morning but then cleared up nicely Overall we completed 20 races (which gave us 3 drops) and had a great day's sailing. 1st Tim DF 65 8 51 points 2nd Wayne DF 65 7 54 points 3rd Simon DF 65 9 56 points 4th Russell DF 65 18 60 points 5th Tom DF 65 53 65 points 6th Chris DF 65 36 71 points 7th Edward DF 65 83 76 points 8th Geoff F DF 65 931 127 points Geoff had to leave at lunch time Pic - Tim IMG_1863 Hooroo Tom

16.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Saturday the 24th of October 2020 Hiya Sailors, Welcome to new members Neil Q & Daryl both sailing their new DF95s. Today's sailing was held under threatening skies... Std Olympic course was set for the NE breeze all buoys to starboard. We managed 7 races giving us only 1 drop race before the lunch call then the storm front causing an early cessation of activities.... Today was the 1st Scratch Point-score for the club's IOMs. We were again joined by Warren N this time sailing his Britpop IOM #156. We sailed behind the Britpop most of the time but Tim B managed to get 2 wins, Dave P managed to pull off a gr8 port start but only to be reeled in by Tim & Warren by the top mark.... oh well more homework on tuning to be done. 13.01.2022 Hi Sailors Well... a course was set for the expected westerly. We finished the 1st race in a building breeze. Ken & Chris pulled out. We abandoned the 2nd race after 1 1/2 laps due to 20knot winds hammering us. Ted required rescue as his boat could not be turned back. Malcolm rescued one schoolboys hat and I later on rescued the teachers hat. After a break for a cuppa the course was reset on the lee side of the wharf in the wind shadow of the land where the winds were ligh...ter but could come from any direction. Thanks to Geoff for scoring the remaining races, he had great view of finish/start line for the few close finishers.6 boats competed where the racing was more a lottery if you could find the steady breeze. I managed 6 tacks without touching the rudder between the bottom mark and the finish line. A standard Olympic course was set with all buoys to port. Today's handicaps will not be used for averages due to the unreliable winds affecting the results. Well done to the winner today after 6 races and 1 drop... 1st Trevor H 11pts 2nd Tom P 12pts 3rd Dave P 16pts on a count back 4th Ted M 16pts 5th Steve Y 18pts 6th Malcolm G 19pts Very close racing with extreme concentration required. 12.01.2022 Handicap start of one of the races on Tuesday the 23rd of June 2020

11.01.2022 Hiya all.. Note from President. .. next Saturday 6th Feb we will have a bbq luncheon with partners invited to share in our culinary delights. Tony said wives and girlfriends are invited... but as Mal pointed out, that could be problematic???... Today started with a very very light SW zephyr. Finally settling in as a SW 4 Knotter for the first race after which the course was reset for the now southerly 8knots. This required a change of direction with all buoys now to port in the std Olympic course. The breeze picked up in race 4 to a nice 10knots which induced the big rolling waves from the south before reaching 15 or so knots at the end of race 5... thereby causing an early lunch and a finish to today's racing. Next Sat 6/2 will be IOM & others Scratch racing. IOM pointscore with all other craft welcome starting at appropriate intervals etc.... so bring em on down & sail wot u got Cheers Dave 1st Tony 2nd

10.01.2022 Sailing Report Saturday the 14th of November 2020 Hi Sailors Today was a gr8 day... A nice steady southerly breeze 6-8 knots guestimated, this caused a great rolling chop to contend with. The "Heads crew" were expecting Tim to excel after his masterful day racing the day before.... but the flat water rig tune did not work well in the short chop. A lesson for all of us. A std Olympic but with a long work and long reaches made for great fun trying to surf the rolling hills whi...ch could gain you 20metres on the opposition. As the weather report expected NE winds the course was set with the wing mark to be the expected top mark when the NE came in... it didn't occur until 1/2 way thru the last race which gave us shy reaches and 1 x square run. Today's mixed fleet saw the DF95s off at zero for the 1st race with handicaps applied therafter. The 2nd class to start at +20secs were the Solings then handicaps applied therafter. Unfortunately Trev had problems and withdrew after race 3, leaving only 2 boats to continue, this means only the 3 races to count.... Soling Results. 1st #129 Ken S 3pts 2nd #008 Geoff B 7pts 3rd #003 Trevor H 9pts A well done to Geoff for managing to sail well against Ken improving heaps as Ken's handicap was reduced as the "Seawitch" seemed to get faster each race after the 1st 3 heats. The lone IOM of Tony's raced with us, starting @ +60 getting to +100secs catching the tail of the DF95 fleet @ the finish, #45 was on +60secs at the time so his handicap was only 40 secs behind. Todays racing had 14 heats with 2 drops DF95 Handicap Summer Pointscore Results... 1st #45 Dave P 32pts 2nd #837 Steve Y 36pts 3rd #888 Tom P 39pts 4th #18 Russ H 43pts 5th #08 Tim B 46pts 6th #733 Malcom G 59pts 7th #682 Dave J 60pts 8th #22 Bryon R 106pts We were also joined by a visitor from the nth side of sydney sailing a hard chined 65cm yacht at the tail of the fleet. 09.01.2022 BRYC Saturday Mixed Fleet 6 Feb 2021 Hiya Soggy Sailors... We started under cloudy skies... some very light drizzle that was on then off then... you know the rest. 8 sailors placed their boats into the briny... 4 x IOMs & 4 x DF95s. Todays racing was all scratch races with IOMs off 1st then DF95s 20 secs later.... 2 retirements 1 x IOM with rudder servo failure & 1x DF95 steering failure with a wet tx. There is a growing weed bed adjacent to shoreline and wharf requiring a rethink for the course structure which seemed to work well. The start line was set near the wharf in clear view for all, anticlockwise for those wondering, then a short 25m work to the middle buoy, keeping it to starboard then take a SW heading to the bottom mark keeping it to port, work up to the top mark, keeping it to port (guesstimated 80m work)into the fickle NE BREEZE. (This kept us away from weed bed). Then to the wing mark near wharf keeping to port then on to the middle buoy. A windward & return before finally another triangle with a downwind finish from the middle buoy. I think I'll call this course the "NE Arrowhead". IOM Results 1st #46 Tom P 7pts (latest acquisition). 2nd #11 Dave P 10pts 3rd #35 Simon R 19pts (B rig) 4th #43 Tony B 26pts (rudder failure). Tom & Dave had many lead changes whilst trying to pick the wind shifts in the last 5 races finishing 3m apart in 4 of them. Great match racing. DF95 Results 1st #08 Tim B 9pts 2nd #733 Malcom G 10pts 3rd #682 Dave J 15 pts 4th # Steve Y 24pts Closely fought racing with dramatic lead changes due to windshifts causing havoc with the best plans being destroyed with a header or knock right on a tack, this then allowing 15 metre losses or gains depending where you were on the course. 07.01.2022 Shoalhaven Heads Sailing Report Thursday the 10th of December 2020. 8 skippers arrived to a cold and threatening wet gusty and tricky WSW strong wind.. B Rigs. both DF 65s and IOMs were the order of the day. The course was two standard Olympics The inner one for DF 65's and the outer one for IOMs. The first race was scratch with the IOM's taking off 30 seconds after the DF65s. All buoys to port. Tim, Russell and Tom were sailing IOMs with Tom trying out his new (second hand) ...IOM No. 46. Chris, Edward and Wayne were sailing DF65's. Bob got his DF65 out but decided that filming the fun was a better pass time. Geoff F did not get his DF65 out. Tim swapped to his DF65 in the second race. We observed social distancing by standing 2m apart on the beach. The wind got progressively stronger during the day. Tim was the first breakage (stem on the main sheet feeder) so he swapped to his DF65. In the scoring his 2nd in the IOM was converted to a 2nd in the DF 65s to simplify the scoring. Weed was not a problem as all the boats were going so fast they threw it off. As the morning progressed everybody got on some wet weather gear and kept racing. Russell ran into a few problems with his battery and then some other problem (don’t ask he said) which caused him to swap IOM's with a C Rig. Tom ran into problems with the jib sheet catching around the deck stanchion and pulling up to let in water. That was the end of his racing for the day. Lunch was held in the cold wind with the drizzle starting to drive in. We lost enthusiasm for sailing after that. Overall we completed 9 races (which gave us 2 drops) and had a great day's sailing. 07.01.2022 BRYC Saturday the 21st Nov Sailing Results Hi Sailors, Today's racing were all scratch Starts. A std Olympic course with all buoys to starboard in the moderate SSW breeze. The course was reset after lunch as the breeze lightened to the SSE, but still with the big rollers... The racing coincided with our monthly BBQ, with a big thanks to Tony and Don and Mark and Mal for helping out.... Tony only managed 1 and 1/2 races before his winch servo failed.... I won't say anything about him missing the first 3 races as he had to dash back home to pick up his forgotten receiver... he did by the tucker though which fed us all. A BIG THANKS to Ted M for running the squawk box and scribing the results and to Malcom G for the rescues and race officialdom. Steve also scores a mention as he thought he was sailing a Square Rigger Pirate ship (the BLACK PEARL) as he positioned himself to give a full broadside to 3 advancing IOMs... Damn... forgot to load the guns... carnage followed... no harm done to anyone... just cursing and swearing in muffled tones as the IOMs sorted their turns out and dashed for the line. The IOM Results after 16 races and 3 drops would have been closer if Russells batteries hadn't given out before the start of heat 15... oh well. 07.01.2022 BRYC 12/12/20 Race Results Hi sailors. Today started wet and finished wet but in between we sailed under an overcast sky. Winds from the ESE swinging to the south then back to the east before we finished in a light rain and southerly breeze. Also the lovely waves of the Basin can not be forgotten. A std Olympic course with buoys to port up until lunch. Then a course reset with all buoys to starboard.... The random handicapping sea gnome was busy tying weed to the DF95 keels requiring all to have a pitstop each lap to remove the long ribbon weed. 3 Solings joined the DF95's upto race 3 before Trevor called it quits. Geoff had the Seawitch powering leading Don in their match racing duel. This Tuesday 15th Dec. is the last Soling race day this year. Hope we have good weather. Cheers Dave

06.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Tuesday the 6th of October 2020 Hi Sailors Our first scratch race point-score after the lockdown etc. Ten boats in total turned up to lose their shirts on a closely fought contest, unfortunately Geoff's alarm keeps going off so he retired from race 2 and did the scribing and turning on of countdown.. Thanks heaps Geoff. We all will try and figure out what is going on with your tx.... ideas anyone??... Some crashing and barging on start line but otherwise a reasonable days sailing. I thought there would have been more count backs... just Chris & I both on 27 for 3rd & 4th place respectively. BBQ this Saturday for mixed fleet racing. 06.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Report Tuesday the 13th of October 2020 Hi Sailors What do you do when all the weather predictors have different forecasts? Oh well they were half right today. A standard Olympic course was set for the light NW wind. 1st race completed, 2nd race abandoned when all but Tony's boat hung around the top mark.... Early cuppa called, awaiting the breeze. Winds now from the south requiring a course reset to other side of wharf... here we go... Ten handicap races completed with nine different winners... well done Don P for winning two. Tyro Award to George D with his 1st heat win... well done. Handicaps given at the start of racing were averages of the previous Tuesday races since lockdown and will continue on a 4 day rolling result. Not a good place to stall your boat. .. lol oh well... No "Bradmans" today... the highest H'cap to Tony reaching 95 early on. This Saturday will be DF95 scratch pointscore. NOTE 2; Tuesday pointscore starts Tuesday after long weekend. 1st Tues. scratch then alternating with Handicaps. Please use only one boat for each of the series e.g. Run one of your boats for all scratch & if you have a 2nd maybe run it for all the handicaps. Breakages excluded. NOTE 3: BBQ Saturday 10/10/20 week after L/Wend. Sailing Report Today's racing started with all boats off scratch then handicapped for the remaining races. 1st 3places received + 20secs last 3 minus 15s but none could be in the negatives with zero being the lowest. Worked well with only a couple of boats not moving off scratch... well done to those for getting a podium finish. Well... what can i say... we had everything except SW winds, from 0 to 10knots. Course was reset three times. We called an early cuppa waiting for consistent winds... came in from the south then swung to the east.. reset... then a bit NE... arrgghhh.... reset again. Oh well. 05.01.2022 DF 95 Shoalhaven Heads Sailing Report Friday the 29th of January 2021. 6 skippers arrived to a wet and miserable day with very light easterly zephyrs and weed in the water. But were we deterred? No way. The course was set, the wet weather gear donned and covers taken out for the transmitters. We did make one concession to the weather. As the score sheet would have got wet (it did rain all day) we decided that instead of handicap races we would sail all scratch races with only... the winning boat to count. And each skipper would keep track of his win. The one with the most at the end of the day would be declared the winner. An added benefit was that as soon as the winner crossed the line all the rest could return to the beach to de-weed and start again. The course was all buoys to starboard, a triangle, a windward and return and then a work to the finish line. We observed social distancing by standing at least 2 metres apart on "our" beach. Tim had an outstanding day scoring 10 wins or 2 Michelles. 05.01.2022 BRYC Sailing Results Tuesday the 8th of September 2020 Hi Salerz 12 Solings of all builds, turned up to race 10 heats, starting on their averaged handicaps from previous race days so far. A standard Olympic course was set for the NE breeze, buoys to port. As usual this course suffers from the land/tree wind shadow that creates lifts, knocks & holes causing much heartache as leading boats fall foul of a favoured tack losing up to 5 boat places in 1 miss-judgement.... Some un-favour at the bottom mark and start with boats making no headway but to be passed by a later handicap boat powering past in their own breeze. NOTE 1: Solings are heavy, it is best to keep the momentum up with open leaches in light and fickle winds. NOTE 2: In light shifty winds Take advantage of the knocks by a quick tack whilst you have momentum keeping the boat moving. NOTE 3: many places are lost when you collide with another. It is best to sail cleanly, tacking before you are called & maybe sailing a little wide at the top mark to miss the mayhem Hope this helps those wondering how that boat behind ends up 20m in front at the top mark. Yes it was tricky with those howling easterly gusts hitting every now and then. Another glorious day in paradise at the Basin sailing. C u all Sat. for mixed fleet sailing, sail craft up to a metre. (Ken's MH welcome). 05.01.2022 BRYC Basin Sailing Report Tuesday the 24th of November 2020 Hiya salerz, We started the day under a cloud cover and a 10knot SSW breeze, we finished the day in bright sunshine and a lovely 8knot southerly. Great rolling waves forming across the Basin, 450mm high troughs to contend with, hard to stay on a wave but good gains could be made to the lucky few. Rig tune was critical to punch through to windward. A standard Olympic course, all buoys to Starboard. Twelve races com...pleted with two drops, no count backs this week. A SPECIAL mention for the Bradman Award this week goes to #19 Tom P for 6 consecutive innings of 100 handicap, with #20 Tony B 6x innings over 100 with highest being 130 secs handicap , #231 Chris L hitting 105 for his best innings and # 22 Simon hitting the ton towards stumps. We started the day on a base handicap of Solings off scratch, DF95 on +30secs & IOMs +130secs, then applying +20s for 1st 3 places and -15secs for last 3places. (Sorry fir the errors today) The finishes became closer as the handicaps worked their magic on all classes... Today's class placings are- SOLINGs 1st Chris L 17pts 2nd Trev H 33pts 3rd Don P 34pts 4th Geoff 75pts 5th George D 89 pts 6th Kevin W 102pts IOMs 1st Dave P 41pts. 2nd Simon 52pts count-back from 3rd Tony B 52pts. 4th Tim B 56pts 5th Tom P 60 pts. 6th Russell H 77pts (had probs & missed a few races) DF95s 1st Malcolm G 32pts 2nd Steve Y 38pts I'll let you figure your overall placings. Please remember- the committee members accepted nominations voluntarily so that we may all enjoy racing in a friendly atmosphere on the day. Please note that rig adjustments are called after the 1st race allowing 5mins from the LAST FINISHING BOAT back to dockside. If a "Rig Change" is called by a competitor an allowance is made due to the distance to vehicles etc. A thankyou from me to Russell for printing my 3D hull components... a fantastic craft. Another thankyou for the cooks today. We have raised an idea that a Saturday pointscore for classes begin in 1st weekend of November. So... 1st & 3rd Sat. - Df95s 2nd & 4th Sat. Standard Olympic was set for th NE breeze which waned requiring a reset for the NWesterly that set in before litening before and after lunch allowing us to complete 10 races. Today we had 2 x IOMs. 1 x Shunbo Sailor (japanese 1m replica racing yacht?). 4 Solings (plastic & fibreglass). 5 Df95s. 1 x JLS Soling.
