05.01.2022 Flattening the curve - Liz Mayberry. Fallen branch used as a handle from a gum tree on my street, olive branch ribs and corded iris foetidissima leaves from my garden, cumbungi gathered from the storm drain at the bottom of the hill used for the body of the basket. Liz writes: Weaving seems to provide the answers to most problems in life, so the challenge was to gather materials without straying more than 150m from home. We wove as a group...zoom...I wove listening to podcasts, I didnt stray far from home...and it all helped to "flatten the curve". 03.01.2022 Festival with weaving...

03.01.2022 @basketrynsw will be participating in @sydneycraftweek this year through 10 days of virtual sharing! Our chosen theme is Basketry: A community beyond borders. Each day of craft week there will be a new theme to share with our Instagram community. Our first step is to survey all @basketrynsw members. We hope to capture a broad range of voices, including the wisdom of elders and makers who may not use Instagram at all. We are also happy to email the survey to any other basketr...y or fibre artists who would like to share their thoughts during this initial information gathering stage. Feel free to DM us your email and we can send you the survey. There are 10 wide ranging questions about practice, ethics, teachers, creativity and beyond. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts on what interests you and help form the direction for our SCW content. We look forward to reading your survey responses and especially to what we as a Basketry Community can create for Sydney Craft Week in October! . . .
