19.01.2022 Whilst the excavator is here working to extend the cattle yards Ken and Enzo are having fun and our orphan lamb Len watches on.

19.01.2022 The end of another day. Lots of newborn calves and another lamb. Enzo on fox patrol tonight.

18.01.2022 Flemington FM cancelled at 6pm tonight. Not very helpful when you have a perishable produce ie beef and lamb. But on a lighter note a beautiful late born calf arrived in the paddock this week and we had some majestic sunsets earlier in the week. I’ll be at Elwood Farmers Market next Saturday.

17.01.2022 Magic sunrise on my way to Flemington Farmers Market with a coolroom full of Australian White lamb #seeyouthere

16.01.2022 Farmers' markets are included in "essential gatherings" definition: Premier's statement today

15.01.2022 Now I am no virologist or graphic designer... but the maths seem simple aye? We need to be careful in these times to not assume that the 'conventional system' ...is the safest. #SupportLocal #FarmNextDoor #LocalFoodResilience (Or copy editor... did you spot the spelling mistake?)

14.01.2022 I’ll be at Elwood Farmers Market tomorrow and Flemington Farmers Market on Sunday with lamb and Angus Beef. Although it’s going to be wet and cold I’d appreciate seeing you all. Message me if you’d like something put aside.

12.01.2022 Had some down time with Hilary and the dogs hanging out on the hay bales watching the sunset over Westernport Bay. Happy days in iso

12.01.2022 My first Airbnb hosting experience guests were a delight and left the most wonderful review for which I’m very grateful. Farm tour bookings now available https://www.airbnb.com.au/experiences/1310178

09.01.2022 I’ll be at Bayside Farmer’s market this Saturday 18/1/20 selling my grass fed Gippsland beef. Market hours 8am-1pm I’ll have the recipe for my Thai Style beef salad too. #bayside #sandringhambeach #grassfedbeef #thaistylebeefsalad

08.01.2022 If ANYONE is not working/not getting a paycheque and runs out of food or necessities or times are just tough... please don’t let yourself or your kids go to sleep with an empty stomach. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message. I am more than happy to share whatever I can. No one has to know. What's understood never has to be explained! Or if you know someone that needs a help let me know on their behalf. #wereallinthistogether #bekindtooneanother #JoinTheCause

08.01.2022 Chooks in the foreground, sheep in the olive grove, Angus cattle on the hill. I loved getting home from the butcher this afternoon and seeing my little patch of happiness and tranquility. I’ll be at Brighton Farmers Market tomorrow and Flemington Farmers Market on Sunday. Lots of lamb and I’m back in Melbourne next week so no need to be anxious about your fresh food security.

08.01.2022 You may have heard of the impending sale of the Holden Proving Ground - 877 hectares (more than 2000 acres) of mostly preserved coastal forest which falls insid...e the Bass Coast Shire. This post and message is to ask for your help. It is a message I would love you to share - particularly with your young ones who are thinking hard, and making their voices heard, about the kind of world and the environment they are going to inherit. We would love to get the whole of the community involved in a discussion about the future of the Proving Ground site, and to particularly engage the views and energy of young people of the Bass Coast region over the future of this forest site. WHERE IS IT? The Lang Lang Holden Proving Ground sits to the east of the highway just north of The Gurdies. In a region which, once densely forested, has now just remnant pockets, the Proving Ground is a unique parcel of Western Port coastal forest. It is ideal for preservation for the environment and as habitat for endangered flora and the wildlife which once ranged this region. It should belong to the community of Bass Coast and to the people of Victoria. Many of us would like to see it purchased by the State Government, rather than lost to an international buyer or developer, or lost to sand mining. UNPROTECTED, AND IN DANGER It is currently zoned 'farming', and has no protective vegetation, landscape or heritage overlays in place. It is unprotected, and we risk losing it. Worse, much of the site falls into the 'Extractive Industry Interest Area', that is, sand mining, which the State Government is proposing to protect with new legislation (Strategic Extractive Resource Areas) to prevent farmers, communities and councils from objecting to new quarries or existing quarries in identified 'extractive interest areas'. The map attached shows the area earmarked as an Extractive Industry Interest Area. (The Proving Ground site is where BASS COAST is written.) Consider how little forest cover there is in the whole of the Bass Coast Shire (and, in the map below, shaded in pink, how much of that remaining forest is threatened by sand mining). The Proving Ground is the largest single parcel of forest remaining. Can we contemplate losing it? Can our young people contemplate losing it? A GATEWAY TO THE REGION And imagine instead what it might be: a magnificent natural 'gateway' to the Bass Coast region, purposed for wildlife tourism, a research centre, a protected wildlife sanctuary, a centre for indigenous culture and education, and for complementary leisure activities such as walking, hiking, and mountain biking. Given the loss of habitat in the West Gippsland region generally, and the vast losses of wildlife and habitat along the length (and inland) of the east coast following the bushfires, the 2000 acres of coastal forest covering this Land Lang site makes it too valuable an asset to lose 'to the property market' or to sand mining and too valuable to the local and broader environment and too important to the threatened species of the Western Port region. We surely don't want to lose it. SO, WHAT CAN YOU DO? You can ask Council to put protective overlays in place to ensure that the vegetation and landscape is protected. You can write to the State Government and to politicians representing the Western Port region to press for environmental protection and purchase of the site. You can talk about it among friends and help get them and the community involved and caring for the future of this forest and the environment of Western Port. 07.01.2022 I’ll be at Elwood Farmers Market tomorrow at our new temporary location Elwood Park just off Ormond Esplanade with an abundance of grass fed Angus beef.

06.01.2022 I feel a little saddened looking through my clear windscreen after a 3 hour drive from dawn until 9.30am. No insects splattered on the glass. Where have they gone or have we killed them with pesticides and herbicides? What are the birds and reptiles eating now? Seems to me organic, regenerative farming is the way forward for human health and the health of our planet.

04.01.2022 Back at Flemington Farmers Market this Sunday with Grass Fed Angus Beef and Lamb.

03.01.2022 Whilst I was at Elwood Farmers Market today it was reassuring to know that Simba and Enzo were taking good care of of the new arrivals.
