22.01.2022 It's that time of year when parents are starting to think about the new school year - and about buying new school shoes! Kids spend A LOT of time in their school shoes; so it's important that they wear well-fitted and appropriate shoes to support their growing feet. Here's a few tips for buying school shoes:... 1. Make sure that the shoe fits. Shoes should be wide enough, deep enough and long enough for your child's foot. There should be a whole thumbs width between the end of their toes to the end of the shoe. 2. Ensure that shoes have an appropriate fastening to hold the shoe onto the foot; such as a buckle, laces or a velcro strap. 3. Shoes should have a firm heel counter (the area around the back of the heel). It should be strong and stay firm when you push it. 4. Shoes with a leather upper will allow the foot to "breathe" and will reduce the risk of developing sweaty feet and fungal infections. Don't forget about socks too; a sock made out of a natural fibres (such as cotton or wool) will also allow the foot to "breathe". 5. If your child wears orthotics, make sure that you take them with you when you are shoe shopping. It's really important that a shoe fits both the foot AND orthotic in it without being too tight.

19.01.2022 Wishing all of our patients, friends and family and wonderful Christmas and happy new year. We'll see you in 2017 when our clinic reopens on Monday 9 January. Merry Christmas everyone!
17.01.2022 Last week we had the pleasure of participating in the Monash Children’s Hospital charity golf day. The day raised over $400000 to help purchase equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This cause is very close to our hearts and we can’t wait for next year to do it all again!
12.01.2022 Fun fact of the day!
11.01.2022 Tomorrow it's finally summer! But the summer months often bring dry and cracked heels for many people. In the warmer months we tend to wear open backed shoes (you gotta love that Aussie thong) and with the hot weather our heels dry out very quickly. For those who suffer from dry and cracked heels there are a range of treatment options available including moisturising creams, a change of footwear and/or podiatry treatment.... Speak to our friendly podiatrists today for assessment on your heels and advice on how to keep your feet looking great throughout the summer months.
09.01.2022 Shoepidity: yep, it's a thing!!
09.01.2022 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Only 10 sleeps to go! Just a reminder that our clinic will be closing on Saturday 24 December and will reopen on Monday 9 January 2017.
08.01.2022 Here's a special tip from your friendly podiatrist .... Always go shoe shopping in the afternoon! Believe it or not, your foot swells up during the day. So if you buy a shoe first thing in the morning, it may not fit your foot by the late afternoon. Therefore if you wait until later in the day when your foot is at it's biggest, you're less likely to have problems such as rubbing, blisters, corns and callus :-)
