21.01.2022 Happy New Year to all our friends, families and supporters! We are looking forward to seeing what this decade brings for our great club. 2010-2019 in review for... BAFC 2010 League- finished 6th in what was then called C Black after the integration of former Sunday league teams entering the WAAFL in 2009. Reserves- finished 3rd missing out on a Grand Final position. Thirds(G grade)-Finished 2nd bottom in what was a tough year and competition competing against single team clubs. Colts- unfortunately we did not have a colts team in 2010. 2011 League- Finished 4th in what was renamed the C2 competition. Played off against Coolbinia West Perth at Jubilee in an elimination final but gave up a big first quarter deficit that could not be pegged back. Coolbinia went on to win the Premiership. Reserves- finished 3rd and played off in a Grand Final against Ocean Ridge unfortunately going down 3.15 to 8.8 Phillip Thompson winning the Association Fairest and Best. Thirds (E3)- finished 4th missing out on the chance of playing in a Grand Final. Colts- restarted after a few years without a team. Finished 7th in the Laurie Keene Division. 2012 League- Finished 4th in the C2 competition. Reserves- Finished 2nd on the ladder. Winning the 2012 C2 Reserves Premiership defeating Gosnells 10.6 to 8.8 Jeremy Jones claiming BOG honours Player Coach- Clint Letizia Thirds (E3)- Finished 5th for the year in what was a challenging year. Colts- went through undefeated in what was a first in the clubs history. A record of 18-0 for the year and defeating Swan Valley in the Grand Final 15.18 to 4.6 Brodie Davis claiming BOG honours kicking 7 on the day. Coach - Darren Young BAFC- receive Champion Colts Club in 2012 2013 League-Finished 5th in C2 Reserves- finished 7th after losing a number of players through retirement after winning a flag! Thirds (E2)- worse year for our thirds in a number of years. Not winning a game and finishing on bottom of the ladder. Colts- finished 5th but making it to the Grand Final. Unfortunately going down 7.3 to 10.12 to Canningvale Cougars on a very wet and cold day. Coach- Adam Joe 2014 League- Finished 3rd on the ladder before eventually playing Carlisle in the Grand Final. Carlisle had only lost 1 game for the year before the GF and we defeated them 11.3 to 8.6 in front of a very vocal Basso Crowd at Steel Blue Oval. Andrew Krakouer donned the black and white after a successful stint at Collingwood. Darren Young was BOG at CHB Coach- Craig Hayden Reserves- finished 8th in what was another rebuild year after we lost a number of fringe players to other clubs. Thirds- unfortunately we were unable to field a thirds side due to a lack of player numbers and the movement of a number of our playing list playing at nearby amateur clubs in 2014. Colts- finished 6th with a very young list. 2015 League- promotion to C1 meant the boys were up against it. We lost a number of players to retirement or other things after the flag. Finished 8th and avoided relegation. Reserves-our worst year in the ressies for over a decade with a number of regular ressies players becoming league players in 2015. Yet again though our boys soldiered on and fought out the year. Only managed 1 win for the year and finished bottom. Thirds- still no thirds team. Colts- finished 7th with a very young list. 2016 League- not a great year with our boys needing to beat Bullcreek in the last game of the year to avoid relegation. Unfortunately losing by 3 goals meant we were relegated back to C2 for 2017 Reserves- our ressies had a better year finishing 6th with 8wins for the year. Brad Doody awarded the association Fairest and Best Award. Thirds- still no thirds side as player numbers were still too low, but the number was increasing and it was discussed during January at an executive level. Colts- Finished 7th but showed some promise in a number of games which was a bright light for the future. 2017 Started off in the worse possible way after a preseason game against Ellenbrook FC ended tragically with Steve Ross collapsing mid game. Unfortunately what followed were the toughest days and weeks that our club has endured. Steve passed away 5 days after collapsing on Jubilee Reserve with family by his side. The club enlisted the help of Sports Chaplaincy Australia and really rallied around each other to come to terms with what had happened. As a club we officially retired the number 23 jumper across all grades forever- to pay our respects to a truly special man. RIP Steve Ross League- finished 4th and got past Nollamara in a home elimination final by 9pts. Went on to beat Warnbro and Lynwood away from home to book a spot in the GF against an undefeated Gosnells team. Like a true basso team we loved being the underdogs and defeated Gosnells 15.7 to 11.7 at Claremont oval to take out the C2 Premiership. Daniel Macaulay earns BOG with a dominant performance from the midfield. Player Coach: Darren Young Reserves- finished 4th after a much improved season under coach Craig Ball. Beat Canningvale in an elimination final by 17pts before succumbing to Warnbro in a Semi Final by 46pts. Jake Roberts takes out the Association Fairest And Best Thirds- numbers in the preseason suggested we had the capacity to field a thirds team. We were conservative in this approach and decided against it. Colts- finished 3rd under the guidance of Craig Walker. Unfortunately going out in straight sets. But a very good year for the colts after a good influx of players and a number of our juniors stepping up to play vital roles in the team. 2018 League- after winning the 2017 Premiership we were promoted to C1 again and this time wanted to ensure we were competitive. We had a solid base for giving it a good crack. We finished the year 3rd on the ladder before injuries rail roaded our finals campaign. Eventually losing a preliminary final to Willeton at Jubilee Reserve by 31pts. Reserves- finished 5th in what was a great effort. We beat Willeton in an elimination final by 15pts before bowing out at the hands of Gosnells by 49pts. Jake Roberts makes it 2 Association Fairest and Bests in a row. Thirds (E2)- we enter a thirds team for the first time in 5 years in what was a huge boost for the club. We were agin able to provide footballing opportunities to varying abilities and this has brought a number of quality people to our great club. Finishing 7th was a good result in our first year back in the thirds competition. Colts- finished on top of the ladder after a sensational season under coach Kyle Burnett. Unfortunately after having the first week of finals off we lost to Bullcreek in the qualifying final by 16pts before losing to Ballajura in the preliminary Final by 26pts. Interestingly neither Melville or Bassendean played off in the Grand Final after finishing in the top two on the ladder at seasons end. 2019 League- a further influx of quality players meant we had an exciting season ahead. With a number of our former junior club players returning from stints in the WAFL we set our selves big goals. The league team finished on top of the ladder and won their qualifying final in convincing fashion at Jubilee against Bullcreek 13.14 to 8.5 We played Bullcreek again (the 3rd time in 5weeks) in the Grand Final running out 9 point winners, 7.10 to 6.7, and securing the C1 Premiership and promotion to B grade in 2020. Chad Daniels wins BOG honours with a gutsy and clearance winning game. Coach- Darren Young League captain Shannon Fernando takes out the C1 Association Fairest and Best becoming our first league player in over 10 years to take home the silverware. Reserves- finished on top of the C1 reserves ladder after a quality season. Unfortunately we were unable to continue that form and lost both finals, missing out on a chance to play off in the Grand Final. Jake Roberts took out his third consecutive Association Fairest and Best. Thirds(E2) a cracking year saw our thirds finish 3rd on the ladder behind Forrestfield and ECU who were one team clubs meaning that their sides were the best side their club could field every week. Unfortunately we lost the preliminary final by a solitary point after allowing them to open up a commanding 3quarter time lead. Colts- another quality year by our colts finishing 4th. In a year that we thought our colts numbers would struggle Ronnie Hobbs weaved his magic to make us really competitive. Unfortunately a 3 point loss to Melville in the first final ended what was a good year. Decade in review. Association Fairest and Bests- 6 Top 5 finishes- 21/35 Grand Finals Played- 7 Grand Finals won- 5 2020 sees us promoted to B grade for the first time since 2007. We are very excited to see how we shape up in this competition and very much know that we will need to be at our best to match it in this grade. We also know that we have a great playing group who is up to the challenge and also an amazing off field support in the form of our committee, sponsors and supporters to ensure we give ourselves every opportunity to be successful for the next decade. Preseason will begin on Tuesday the 14th of January at Jubilee Reserve at 6pm. Get down and be apart of our great club!

17.01.2022 The info we are receiving so far is that the PFL are aiming for our first game to still be on 13th June (depending on WAs restrictions) with training resuming as a club on 31st May. In the meantime we hope everyone is doing their best to keep fit and stay sane. Heres the latest release from the PFL. PERTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE COVID-19 UPDATE... While the WA Governments recent decision to ease social distancing restrictions to gatherings of up to 10 people is an encouraging sign in WA, it is important to note that community football remains postponed until May 31st. This includes training sessions at football clubs. Players are encouraged to continue training away from their club, while ensuring they follow the Governments current social distancing guidelines. Please keep being patient and do not return to your football club at this point in time. The ease of social distancing restrictions does provide an opportunity for clubs to re-engage with players, and achieve appropriate fitness and conditioning for players. Importantly, playing football, itself remains a prohibited sporting activity. Sharing fitness and sporting equipment such as footballs is prohibited and social distancing guidelines apply. Clubs intending to organise training should: Stagger its groups of 10 or less training schedules (different start times, different days, different locations). In other words, avoid groups training at the same venue at the same time. Training groups of 10 (includes players, coaches, trainers) must be a consistent group of members with no movement between groups to reduce risk of cross-contamination. Players are encouraged to continue training away from their club. No access to changerooms, gym, wet or inside areas. Training activities will be non-contact (no tackling, bumping, etc). Players responsible for own strapping, if required. Coaches and players must maintain social distancing protocols as outlined by the WA Government at all times. No sharing of equipment, including no footballs, kick to kick. Bring your own water bottle. COVIDSafe App The League is still hopeful of competition in 2020. However, we are mindful that a member contracting COVID-19 would cease competition immediately. In this situation, tracking infected members is essential to reduce spread through the wider community. Therefore, the League strongly recommends all players, coaches and volunteers intending to train download the COVIDSafe app

08.01.2022 R U OK? Today is National R U OK day . 2020 has been a challenging year thus far, one that a lot of people would like to forget for various reasons. The 2020... season has been an emotional year for us at Bassendean AFC with some horrific injuries early and some tragic news all before the season even got underway. We would like to take the chance to introduce our sports chaplain in David Kingston. For those that don’t know, David has been involved with our club for a number of years now. Not only as a sports chaplain but a committee member also. He’s regularly at the club helping out and observing the goings on within the playing group and it’s members. David has had a number of conversations over the years with players who tend to put on a brave face around the club but are secretly going through rough patches off the field. We ask that any of our players , past players, members and supporters who may need someone to speak to , please don’t hesitate to contact David on the number below. 0412 089 884
