23.01.2022 At WASTCA as we celebrate NAIDOC week and reconciliation round to further pay our respects to the traditional custodians of our land and stamp out racism I was ...invited by the South Perth Cricket Club to attend the bare foot circle prior to the commencement of the 2nd grade match between South Perth CC and Bassendean CC. Thanks to the South Perth CC, captain Jacob Sands and indigenous player Nick Taylor who spoke extremely well on paying their respects to elders past and present and acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land and ground we play on including a continued focus on stamping out racism in our game. I would also like to acknowledge the mutual and proactive participation by Bassendean Cricket Club including coach Ben O’Brien and Captain Adam Pesce and the players for joining and paying their respects along with Umpires David Reardon and Liam Bray. 22.01.2022 Congratulations to Alister Lowes who is The Agency Player of the Round for Round 1. Lowesy started the day off taking 4/19 in the first innings before following up with a stylish 29 to help our First XI win their first match of the season.

22.01.2022 NEW HEAD COACH FOR SEASON 2020/21 The Bassendean CC is pleased to announce that we have signed player/coach for the upcoming 2020/21 season, Ben O'Brien. Ben has spent the last decade playing 1st and 2nd Grade WASTCA for Nollamara, Bassendean and High Wycombe. He has been Club Captain at both Nollamara and Bassendean. He is a 3x Premiership player at BCC (1x 2nd Grade & 2x T20 Division 1) and 3x Premiership player at HW (1x 2nd Grade OD, 1x 2nd Grade & 1x 1st Grade). Ben retu...rned to play at BCC last season after a 4 year stint with HW. He has now turned his hand to coaching and we are excited to be the club where Ben begins his journey. We believe Ben is the right person to move the club forward and his coaching visions and aspirations match the direction we want to head in as a club. His well respected manner, knowledge of the game, communication skills and ability to nurture players all of ages made it an easy decision for the Committee to appoint Ben. Please join us in congratulating Ben as coach and we look forward to him leading us in the future.

21.01.2022 CAPTAINCY ANNOUNCEMENTS Our 3rd XI will be co-captained by Brett Lacey and Bjorn Thompson this season. With Brett expecting another addition to his family later this year, his priorities will change and the discussion for co-captains arose. Bjorn, who has been a committee member for many years is now ready to take on an on-field leadership role and with Brett’s experience to lean on, we have strong confidence he’ll do a great job.... Our 4th XI will once again be led by BCC Life Member Geoff Hodgson. He will also take on the reigns as one of the club’s Assistant Coaches. Geoff has been a club stalwart for nearly 25 years now and sits 5th on the all time games played. We wish these three men all the best in their roles for season 2020/21!

20.01.2022 Swan Ath Basso Over 45s playing at Jubilee right now. 33 over game, 8 overs in and we got them 4/30 currently. Lots of time left for anyone who wants to come down and support our own boys amongst the team. Bossy, Hodgy, Milo, Collars, Ferdie and Gardiner is a big BCC contingent. Hodgy with 2 wickets early.

20.01.2022 CAPTAINCY ANNOUNCEMENT We are delighted to announce that Adam Pesce will be taking on the role of 1st XI Captain this season. Adam made his club debut in 2009 and will become our newest Life Member later this year. He is the current club Secretary and has been on the committee for 8 years.... Adam’s appointment comes on the back of a successful T20 Division 1 campaign in 2019/20 where he captained the side to the premiership. After having a taste to lead from the front last year, he feels that he is ready to take the next step in his career and the Committee unanimously agreed on him as being the person to lead both our First XI and club forward. He is sure to provide strong leadership for our playing group both on and off the field. If there is a person who embodies the club’s motto for season 2020/21 then it’s Adam. Brave Challenge Commitment We wish him the very best for the upcoming season - congratulations Pesh! Stay tuned for further captaincy announcements in the coming days.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Nathan Bird who was our Round 6 The Agency Player of the Round. Birdy opened the batting for our 2nd XI scoring 51 off 60 balls helping his side set a target score of 173 against second placed Kalamunda. He then followed up with the ball in the second innings of the match taking 3/18 off 6.1 and helping roll the opposition for 74.... Huge game Birdy and well deserved recognition! The win takes our 2nd XI to outright second on the ladder now.

18.01.2022 NEW CLUB SPONSOR FOR 2020/21 The Bassendean Cricket Club would like to welcome The Morley Tavern as a new sponsor for the upcoming season. During these tough times, every bit of sponsorship counts for sporting clubs like ourselves and we are delighted to be working alongside The Morley Tavern. ... They are located just 10 minutes from the club at 250 Walter Rd in Morley. Formally known as the Morley Bar and Bistro, a re-launch and revamp earlier this year was put on hold due to COVID-19. After some months in the dark, they officially opened their doors last month. BCC players and members can collect a ‘Morley Membership Card’ from the club in October. These cards can be used by our players and members to: - Access discounts - Point based spending bonuses - Free drinks - Giveaway draws The cards will also allow for any group of 4 players in any week to get a complimentary jug of their choice when they attend the venue. This Friday (August 28th) we are gathering at The Morley from 6pm for a pre-season get together so come on down and check out our new sponsor!

17.01.2022 CAPTAINCY & ASSISTANT COACH ANNOUNCEMENT We are proud to announce that Ryan Jacobs will be leading our 2nd XI side this season for a second consecutive year. He will also take on the reigns as one of the club’s Assistant Coaches. Ryan has been a club stalwart for nearly 25 years now, making his club debut in the late 90s. He is just 14 games shy of playing 300 games for the club, which would make him just the 4th player in our history to achieve this honour.... Ryan’s appointment comes on the back of a strong campaign in 2019/20 where he captained his side to 2nd spot on the ladder after the home and away season. With the season ultimately cut short, it was a story of what could’ve been during the finals. His passion, determination and willingness to compete week in week out are just some of the attributes he’ll instil in our Second XI side. There isn’t a more appropriate player than Jacks who best represents the club’s motto for next season by being brave, challenging yourself and showing a commitment to the club. We wish Jacks all the best in his roles for season 2020/21!

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Ryan Jacobs who is The Agency Player of the Round for Round 4. Jacks hit 122 runs off 135 balls against North Beach Carine CC on the first Saturday in his two day fixture. His side went on to score a mammoth 8/329 from their 72 overs. The following Saturday, his bowlers did the job rolling NBCCC for 123 to win by over 200 runs. Remarkably, Jacks nearly outscored the opposition off his own stick!... Well done once again Jack!

17.01.2022 Well done to the following players who have made our P&N Bank Team of the Week for Round 2.

17.01.2022 Our T20 side is still in contention for back to back flags. Our quest continues this Sunday with a Semi Final down south. We'll be travelling down to Gil Fraser and playing Fremantle Mosman Park Cricket Club with the winner progressing to the Grand Final on December 20 at the WACA. Any support for the team would be much appreciated so sort out your carpools and come cheer on the boys.... If you're unavailable to attend, Noelzy and his team from The Community Sports Show will be live streaming all the action from 2:45pm. Jump over to their facebook page to check out the great things they do for all sports in the community.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to our two centurions who take out The Agency Players of the Round for Round 6. Julian also hit his first ton for BCC, scoring 110 in the first innings of his one day match. His knock proved to be the difference as the OD boys won by 29 runs against Applecross.... Well done both of you on your achievement!

In March this year, he captained our T20 Division 1 side to the Premiership over Balcatta CC, 9 years after our first T20 flag. 14.01.2022 The Bassendean Cricket Club would like to welcome Mark Petta as our newly appointed curator for the upcoming 2020/21 season. After receiving multiple expressions of interest for the role, the Committee sat down and agreed that Mark was the best candidate to fulfil the position. His main aims for next season include providing fair playing conditions for both batsmen and bowlers and the repairment of training wickets.... Mark joins our club with over 10 years experience in providing curatorial services. He first began with Bayswater-Morley CC in the WACA system before more recently doing the wickets at fellow WASTCA clubs Bentley CC, Whitfords CC and North Perth CC. 10.01.2022 Well done to Alister Lowes who is The Agency Player of the Round for Round 3. This is the second time he has won player of the round this season. On the first Saturday of his match, Lowesy bowled in a great partnership with Tim Dixon (shoutout to TD for taking 5/49 off 23.3 overs). Lowesy finished with 2/65 off his 26 overs. The following week on a rain affected day, Al was guiding our top side home with only 14 runs required to win from 16 balls with 3 wickets remaining. Unf...ortunately the rain came and the match ended in a draw. Lowesy finished the day unbeaten on 88 off 121 balls.
