25.01.2022 The Club is hosting a Community Coaching course on Friday 14th Feb from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cyril Jackson Gymnasium. The course will be run by BWA and forms the first accreditation in the Basketball coaching pathway. We are opening this up to interested volunteers who may like to achieve this accreditation or who may be interested in coaching for Galaxy in future seasons. Cost of the course is $40 per participant. At the end of the session you will receive the accreditation ...of "Community Coach". Places are limited and will be accepted in the order of expressions of interest received. To register your interest, please email Lisa Doney on [email protected] and you will be emailed the registration information in the next few days.

25.01.2022 The Club has been contacted by the Town of Bassendean in regards to us helping them out with an event and in return we will receive funds from them to go to the Club. Please see below for details: * They are hosting a BBQ for between 80 and 100 people on the evening of Monday 10th Feb * Total time needed will be approx 2.5 hours from 5:00 pm to around 7:30 pm * We are looking for 6 to 8 volunteers please... * The money received from this fundraiser will go to support those selected in WABL with their fees / registration costs for Winter 2020 For this reason, we are seeking assistance from parents of those children who have registered for WABL tryouts to possibly volunteer their time for a few hours if possible. We have still not heard from East Perth when the winter season will recommence, however I wanted to let you all know that HomeCourt has extended their free access to their online training app until 31st May 2020. https://www.homecourt.ai/ Use the link above to check it out. This will hopefully help your child keep up with their skills whilst we are unable to meet face to f...ace. Homecourt have also launched new types of live action game play so players in any sport can have fun, develop their skills, and keep learning. It can only be downloaded from the Applestore for apple devices so go and get the ball rolling (or bouncing)

22.01.2022 Please see the below communication from East Perth regarding games and WABL grading this weekend. The Coronavirus impact on the community continues and we all need to take the necessary precautions to stop the spread. We are working with BWA on this matter, and there is a document in your email regarding this. WABL grading and domestic games this weekend advice is as below and we will provide further information next week on games in the coming weeks.... In regards to the WABL grading tournament this weekend BWA has made the decision that this is a non-essential tournament and given it involves around 3,000 competitors and spectators having to be indoors for two full days in close proximity we have decided to cancel the grading tournament for 2020. Teams will now be graded manually by BWA with consultation with the local basketball associations. Existing domestic competitions and the SBL will continue as normal over the weekend and we will review the situation again early next week and keep the basketball community informed. This weekends SBL games will be restricted to approximately 500 people. There is a possibility that we may as an industry delay, postpone or reschedule games in the coming weeks if the situation in WA changes from a health perspective. I have been in contact with our venues and they are all taking the necessary precautions to help protect the public. East Perth will provide hand sanitiser and wipes on all score benches, once this is available to purchase, currently in high demand. Once available we request all players, refs, coaches, scorers use this prior to touch any equipment. All equipment is to be wiped down regularly. We all need to take responsibility for our own actions and take the necessary steps to help stop the spread of this virus in the community. Some points to remember Wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20secs If feel unwell stay home to avoid spreading germs - If you have traveled please take the necessary precautions as per health guidelines Do not get offended if someone does not wish to shake hands with you Thanks everyone, take care and appreciate your support. 19.01.2022 Today our U12 Meteors team played in our first Grand Final. As a coach, I would like to thank everyone for coming down to support our team today. A huge thank you to you all from myself, Doug and the boys. It was awesome to see such a crowd. This season has been an interesting one full of some ups and downs. Today was a culmination of a great season with new players in a new age group with different rules. These boys have improved dramatically over the short season.... We were not supposed to win last week and we did, so this week was just the next challenge. We played well today across the board. Foul trouble unfortunately played a large part with some of our players spending more time on the bench than expected. We missed some shots that the other team were able to hit, but all in all, a quality game. Keeping in mind that we were one of the youngest teams in the league up against a team about to go up to U14's I can't be anymore prouder of this team. Congratulations to the Morley Rocket Hawks. 18.01.2022 News just out from East Perth and Basketball Australia :-) Essentially what this means for you today is: * that any current return to training or games will not be immediate * a future plan will have a number of restrictions required to be implemented before any return to either training, or then later games... * each Association will work to deliverer its own requirements including venue entry and exit, seating and hand or ball sanitising etc * many training venues still have restrictions in place so training is still currently not permitted at either Association or Club level * any individual training should be Outdoor activity ONLY, limited to individual or pairs, provided that there is: - No sharing of equipment (including drink bottles, towels, balls - 2 metre distance maintained at all times - No prolonged contact before or after session (meet train go) - No use of communal facilities (e.g. outdoor gyms) We will continue to provide you more information as a Club (and from East Perth Association) as soon as we are able. Please stay safe and try to keep fit and healthy.

18.01.2022 Winter Basketball Season 2020 is here ! Bassendean Galaxy Club Registration is now open for players in the East Perth District Basketball Association. The season starts the first week in Term 2 and runs through toward the end of Term 3, 2020. Games are played on Saturdays at various time depending on age. Registrations received before 27th March, 2020 will have priority placement into teams over registrations received after that date.... At present, pending numbers, it is anticipated that Bassendean Galaxy will be registering teams in each division of the U10s mixed, U12 Boys and U12 Girls, U14 Girls and U14 Boys, U16 Girls and U16 Boys, and U18 Girls and U18 Boys. Registration fees (including an initial deposit towards Club Fees of $70 to be paid at the time of registration) will consist of: Club Fees: $220 first child $200 second child $180 third and any subsequent child BWA Fee $30. (This is an annual Fee - paid separately via another link to be distributed closer to the start of the season) Fees are all inclusive including uniforms. 16.01.2022 Galaxy registrations for the Winter 2020 domestic basketball season are soon to be open. If you are not a current member of the Club, but would like to be included in the registration process (and receive the emails), can you please email a note to [email protected] stating your childs Full name, DOB, gender, and a contact mobile phone number for a parent or guardian and you will be added to the mailing list.... The Club received updates from East Perth late on Friday which the committee have been digesting. A summary of that is below. There will be further (and detailed) updates a day or two, including a link for the opening of registrations for the Winter 2020 season, once we have been able to incorporate the changes into the required registration details etc.. Summary of the East Perth Communication is as follows: * Training will commence in the next week or 2 as soon as the Club can coordinate coaches / training venues * Games have been scheduled to commence on Sat the 18th July under a shortened format of 9 regular games and 2 x finals for this season. * Registration fees are being adjusted to reflect the shorter season with these to be communicated in the next email and registration link / pack * All Coaches and Team managers are required to complete an online COVID infection control course (details to follow to those who are required to do this) and be certified as Bio Safety Officers * All games will be followed by a mandatory 20 min break allowing EP Bio Safety Officers to sanitise used areas of the stadium in between games as per BWA guidelines currently in place and allowing for the managed entry and exit of teams from any stadiums. * Under current Phase 3 of restrictions, parents will not be permitted into the stadium for domestic games due to the restrictions in numbers permitted within the stadium. This is expected to change as we move to phase 4 where 1 parent per player will be permitted into games once we reach that point. This may be in time for resumption of games or shortly thereafter. Fixtures for Week 1 are on the East Perth website and Gameday app. Please remember that ONLY the fixtures for 8th February have been finalised and any times showing on the Gameday app for future weeks are not correct. East Perth have informed us of the following changes for competition: ... Games will be played across three venues o Morley Rec (8.50 first time slot & 1.50pm last time slot) o The Rise (8.50 first time slot & 4.20pm last time slot) o Herb Graham (10.30 first time slot court 1 & 3 1.00pm first time slot court 4 5.10pm last time slot courts 1, 3 & 4 Scoring o Moving to Courtside o Using tablets at all venues (These will be ready for week 2 following a quick session with clubs on what is required) o Week 1 - 8th Feb manual score sheets will be provided Can all Team Managers please make sure you have a nominated scorer for the games and they arrive 15 minutes early to familiarise themselves with scoring for the first few games. We would appreciate everyones patience and support with the changes. The changes are great for the Association and our club as we are growing and having three venues will assist with game times and also allowing more kids to play.

06.01.2022 Galaxy is hosting a fundraising sausage sizzle on Sunday November 8th at Bayswater Bunnings. If you are over 15 years of age, please consider helping out. We require volunteers for 2 hour time slots between 8am-4pm. If you are unable to help on the day, we gratefully accept donations of soft drinks or other supplies. The cost of the tryouts is $30 and is very easy to register through the East Perth Eagles website. Session times as per picture.... Some of the dates on the website seem a little misleading? I just registered my 2 of my kids. We did the State Champs a year or so ago and it was great. See more

Please practise Social distancing and hand shaking discouraged. Go the Chicken wing instead. Balls sanitised by umpires before each game. 03.01.2022 Update just in from East Perth as follows: Hi all I hope you are all well and enjoyed the downtime, I know I did :-) With the announcement today of easing of restrictions further effective 6th June, we are working with our venues, as we have been for the last few months, on how this will effect East Perth. Currently schools have advised that they will not hire to outside organisations, or look at it, until Term 3.... Once our venues, (Morley; Herb Graham and The Rise) have a chance to look at what the new restrictions mean for them, we will be able to plan for any return. We are also waiting on what guidelines will be issued by BWA and what protocols we have to follow. Appreciate your patience and understanding with this.
