This is a real deal 1939 R61. there is so much I could tell you about the history of this model, and the fact that because of anti German/Nazi sentiment at that time, there are very few of these in the country. developed primarily for the army, this is a really great restoration by Lance Gilbert in QLD.

17.01.2022 Ive never seen a running motorcycle with such severe valve damage. the exhaust guides were so loose, Im surprised it ran at all. This R80GS needs some TLC, and a ton of parts.

17.01.2022 AT LONG FUCKING LAST..... The Red Bike is Finished. The Owner is happy, and that makes me happy. I took a long time to build this one. it is a Matching numbers bike (amazingly) but there are very few new parts (outside of the motor) on this one. she is literally a parts-bin special. The Owner of this bike is an expert parts scrounger (thats a compliment by the way) and he organised the paint and nearly all the parts, mostly 2nd hand stuff. And for the last 2 weeks has been helping with the completion of the job and its been a stirling effort. I was actually offered the pile of parts that this bike emerged from. and I have to congratulate the owner for his determination and patience. Good work John!!

16.01.2022 Im a closet fan of Autorace. the crazy Japanese paved oval track speedway. Unless you can speak Japanese, this sport is completely impenetrable. it is an entirely controlled sport, because it only exists because of gambling. everyone uses the same motor, frame, tyres. the motor is a Suzuki 600cc. the racing is always super competitive and physical. but I cant understand the commentators.

14.01.2022 Hi friends, this weekend marks 18 months since Jayden has gone missing. I know I have asked you before to share this but I am asking you again to please share t...his for me. Keeping his face and name in the media is so important. I miss my son so badly. All his family and friends do, our worlds have all changed so much without him. I am so grateful for the support and love I am receiving during this horrible time. I manage to function each day because of this support and I hope you all know how grateful I am, I manage to stand up straight each day because of you. Time does not heal this wound and there is no respite it is totally consuming. There are 38,000 people reported missing in Australia each year and nearly all are found. Unfortunately there are 1600 long term missing people (3 months being considered as long term), my heart goes out to the 1599 other families living this hell. Jayden, mate, if you somehow see this please know that I hope you have a roof over your head, some food in your belly, somebody saying some kind words to you, but most importantly I hope that you are saying kind words to yourself, you are worth it. We are all young once and mistakes are made. I love you Jayden, we all do. I am broken mate, but I am here for you when you return with no judgement, you know that. If you are doing what you need to do that is ok. I just want you back in my life, I want you found, its just not the same without you. Even if you arent ready to come back mate, 3 words will do - Im ok Dad. I love you so much Jayden, I miss you so much it hurts to the bone.

14.01.2022 Dave Lampard says, "After plenty of head scratching the old girl(R50/5) burst back into life. Resurrected from 4 non running years." I say, Thank fuck for that! Now with Electric start, new carbs, new battery, and a replacement LH cylinder head. we finally got to the bottom of the tuning issues. a blown head gasket, a badly fitted spark plug helicoil, and severely glazed bores. this bike was 20 years overdue for some TLC. BUT we got there in the end. Thanks for your patience Dave.

04.01.2022 Let me stress the importance of ALWAYS using clean fuel, and making sure that your fuel system is free of any water. Water can be dispersed by using a fuel additive, or by cleaning out your tank manually. the photos below show the shocking results of leaving a bike with water in the near empty tank standing for a year.

03.01.2022 For those of you who dont know, Im a huge fan of 1950s Japanese Motorcycles. And my dream is to one day own a CABTON...... WTF is a CABTON? i hear you ask. The pictures tell the story, but these bikes just dont exist outside of Nippon. So my chances of getting my mitts on one, are slim to none. And there is a very healthy Domestic vintage bike scene in Japan, Where most of the surviving bikes are held. But I can dream.
