24.01.2022 Re-think using the backroads to breach the regional boundary restrictions. We know them too. #fb This update came from the Wundowie Police on Twitter
24.01.2022 Despite the storms that blew through, last month was warmer and drier than usual, with 13 locations across the State setting new records for June high temperatu...res! With more West Aussies out exploring our beautiful regions, we unfortunately saw a rise in road crash rescues . Please take care on the roads and stay safe these school holidays!
24.01.2022 On this day two years ago, one of the largest recorded earthquakes south of Perth caused a 3km long surface rupture near Lake Muir As one of Australias most ...seismically active areas, our South West will soon be home to an additional 25 seismic recording stations to improve how we monitor earthquake activity. The groundbreaking project is a collaboration between DFES, Australian National University, Geological Survey of Western Australia, Macquarie University and Geoscience Australia.
23.01.2022 The Bassendean SES team out working hard last night.
23.01.2022 A deep low-pressure system is travelling towards WA, bringing heavy rain and strong winds for nearly the whole of the west coast this Sunday! This is a rare... event for this time of year and it's due to the remnants of a tropical low tracking towards WA and interacting with a cold front, causing the low to deepen. The last time an event like this occurred was June 2012, which led to over 600 calls for assistance and over 170,000 homes losing power. Bureau of Meteorology has produced an animation to show the predicted track for the low-pressure system, which will determine areas predicted to cop the worst of the weather. Most storm damage is preventable, so it's important you start getting ready over the coming days by: - Tying down loose items (like those pesky trampolines) - Check your roof for any damaged tiles and clear your gutters - Pack away outdoor furniture and items that could be moved by winds - Trimming any branches near your house Keep up to date as the situation changes Find the latest alerts and warnings at https://bit.ly/2fU94Yo Keep an eye on the weather at https://bit.ly/2WRuj0x Find your local ABC Radio Station: https://ab.co/2XnaMnU When you need SES assistance after severe weather, call 132 500
23.01.2022 This Wednesday is WOW day. Wear something orange to work to show support and appreciation of SES volunteers, and the families and employers that support them.
21.01.2022 WA Police Forces Emergency Operations Unit recently held a land search training activity at Whiteman Park. It was an opportunity for Police and DFES State Emer...gency Service volunteers to get together and simulate a large search operation involving multiple search teams and an assortment of command resources. The activity was supported by Whiteman Park and included a visit from the Minister for Police, The Hon Michelle Roberts MLA. With the support of horses, dogs and a remotely piloted aircraft, or drone, all search areas were covered quickly and thoroughly. If you are planning on heading out and exploring hiking trails or the outback this summer, please be prepared. A range of safety advice is available here: https://www.police.wa.gov.au//Outback-Travel-Bushwalking-a
20.01.2022 Happy Easter, from our big emergency services family! This years celebrations may look very different to how you would usually spend Easter, but every effort ...made to stay home where possible to reduce the risk is the best gift we can give each other. Just like every other day of the year, we will continue to respond to emergencies and incidents in our communities. Thank you to those incredible emergency services personnel who are sacrificing precious time with their own families today to keep the WA community safe.
20.01.2022 The Bassendean SES crew cooked up a storm for those residents that attended the Dogs Breakfast at Sandy Beach Reserve on Sunday. A fun day had by all, especially the pooches. Well done team.
19.01.2022 What goes in your three bin system? Listen to Mayor Renée McLennan explain what types of material goes in each bin. You can find more information about what goes in each bin from www.recycleright.wa.gov.au or the Recycle Right App, Make sure you select the three bin FOGO system option.
18.01.2022 In need of some activities to do whilst you #stayhome? How about preparing an emergency kit? It can help save precious time when you are in an emergency situation. They provide items you might need if you lose power or need to leave your home in a hurry due to incidences such as fires, flooding, cyclones and storms Its time to get the kids involved in putting together an emergency kit for your family ... (If your kids are Joey's, Cub's or Scout's, this is part of their SES patch.) Start with a water proof storage container - Have a think with your family and kids about what essential items you might need in an emergency. Need some ideas? Check out: www.dfes.wa.gov.au/safetyinformati/pages/emergencykits.aspx You might have most things lying around at home but you can make a shopping list for anything that is missing or needs replacing. Set a reminder in your calendar to check and restock your emergency kit every 6 months. Post a photo of your emergency kit in the comments when you are done!

15.01.2022 From the DFES Page. The cooler weather brought a shift in temperature, and also in the types of incidents our emergency services personnel responded to. Our ComCen team are always kept on their toes, but in May they received the most triple zero calls in a month since 2017! Here's a look at some of what we responded to last month

08.01.2022 ALL ANZAC Day Memorial Services are CANCELLED Please DO NOT ATTEND your local RSL or your local Cenotaph. Instead this year, RSLWA have requested our community take part in a unique ANZAC Day Dawn Service by standing at the end of your driveway at 0600hrs, lighting a candle to pay your own special tribute to our fallen servicemen and women ... You can also tune in to ABC Radio, 6PR, 96FM and 6IX for the Dawn Service commemoration that will include The Ode, The Last Post and one-minutes silence If you do leave your home for one of the current essential reasons, remember to practice safe social distancing and do not attend any mass public gatherings. For more information please go to https://www.rslwa.org.au/commemoration/anzac-day/ LEST WE FORGET
