25.01.2022 The Carols at the Oval event held in 2019 was our 30th year of presenting Carols to the community in Bassendean! We hope you enjoy this little clip.

25.01.2022 Great first night for our year 6’s, joining in with our teen youth last night! Basso Youth is on every Friday night during school terms, our Juniors from 6pm, and Teens from 7.30 if you want to get among it! #bassochurch #wearebassochurch #bassoyouth

23.01.2022 This morning we had the honour of witnessing two baptisms! So good to see God at work in people's lives! #bassochurch #wearebassochurch #baptismsunday

22.01.2022 On Sunday, we looked at this story in Acts, that tells of a time when Paul and those travelling with him, had an opportunity to share the Gospel with a group of ladies - "One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message." How lovely is this! May we have hearts that respond to God's gentle pull, bringing us to salvation through Jesus Christ! #bassochurch #wearebassochurch #starttheweekright

21.01.2022 Last week, when we were clearing out our offices, we came across these old plans for our chapel - what a find!! Our chapel was built 108 years ago, in January 1913 - what a faithful God we have, sustaining his people in this place for over a century! #bassochurch #wearebassochurch

19.01.2022 As we've started through the book of Revelation, we've seen the heart of Jesus for us - "..who loved us and has freed us from our sins by his blood" (ch1:5). But what about our hearts? Does the way we live reflect a deep love for Jesus, or do we need to come back to God? "You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first." Revelation 2: 4b,5a #bassochurch #wearebassochurch #revelation #starttheweekright

18.01.2022 We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Carols at the Oval event at Steel Blue Oval. This is because of a lack of funding for the event the local community grants weren’t available this year, and with businesses doing it tough, it wasn’t the year to look for new sponsors to cover costs. BUT we are already in talks with Town of Bassendean about next year’s event, which we hope will be better than ever! AND because we love singing carols, we will be holding a smaller Carols by Candlelight on the front lawns of Basso Church so keep an eye out for more information about that!

15.01.2022 Revelation 4 gives us an amazing glimpse into the throne-room of heaven, where we see God the Father seated on His throne. At the start of this new year, how good it is, to be reminded that our Mighty God is still on His throne - still ruling over all - still merciful and mighty - and still worthy of all our praise! "...and day and night they never cease to say, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!" Revelation 4:8b #bassochurch #wearebassochurch #starttheweekright

14.01.2022 Two Sunday nights ago we had an interesting visitor at church. A wattle bird flew straight in through the front doors to join us. The only thing is it didn’t take a seat! Nor did it find a place to perch itself. Instead, it flew about in the chapel. What a distraction! It wouldn’t settle, and it flew about even more whenever we stood and sang, and when the pastor spoke. I should know I was the pastor sharing from the beautiful shepherd psalm - Psalm 23. After the service,... we tried to get the bird out, but to no avail. Then in the morning, when the front doors of the chapel were opened, the bird flew straight out - free as a bird. But what a distraction! This got me thinking about distractions in life. There are so many things we can pursue and do in life, that distract us from pursuing the most important things in life. Ecclesiastes says about so much we pursue: Meaningless! Meaningless! Everything is meaningless. So what is not meaningless and not a distraction? I believe it’s revealed in Luke 10:38-42. Jesus came to Mary and Martha’s home. Martha was distracted with so many tasks. Mary sat and listened to Jesus. Jesus said to Martha You are worried and distracted about so many things; but . . . Mary has chosen what is best. The lesson the most important thing in life is to listen to Jesus and know God through Him. Ian Kirk - Pastor at Basso Church See more

12.01.2022 These lovely ladies have been busy packing little Christmas gift packs for kids at the Twilight Markets at Bic Reserve, Bassendean, tomorrow evening! If you're in the area, come down tomorrow and grab one!

12.01.2022 I love this time of the year, when creation signals to us the approaching Christmas season with the spectacular flowering of the Jacaranda trees. Their unique purple-blue flowers are stunning. We are blessed to have many flowering along our street verges in the Bassendean shire that I’m part of. But not only do we have the Jacarandas flowering, we also have agapanthus plants starting to flower. We have quite a number in our garden. Interestingly, they also have a purple-blue ...flower. As I think of these unique purple-blue colours in creation, I’m intrigued with a bit of a connection to Christmas. The colour purple is culturally connected to royalty. At Christmas we remember the birth of Jesus, our King. In Luke 2, the angel said to the shepherds Today in the town of David [Bethlehem] a Saviour has been born for you. He is Christ the King. The colour blue is culturally connected to peace. Isn’t it interesting that the Christmas message is about peace! The angelic choir proclaimed to the shepherds Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace toward people with whom He is pleased. Jesus was born to bring peace between God and people. He would eventually die for us on the cross, so that we could be forgiven and be at peace with God, if we would believe in Him. After a difficult year with Covid-19, how good it is to appreciate the Christmas message of peace and hope. Ian Kirk - Pastor at Basso Church See more

11.01.2022 What a year we’ve had! Who’ll forget the shops running out of toilet paper. What was that about? But more seriously, people lost jobs, and others struggled with loneliness and depression. What about when we had to isolate from each other? It was a time of fear and uncertainty. But here we are at Christmas; and of all the Christmas’s we’ve had, this is a pretty special one. What a time to appreciate joy and peace and hope words that we associate with Christmas. This is beca...use of what was declared at the birth of Christ to some shepherds in the vicinity of Bethlehem. An angel said to them Do not be afraid; for behold I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people; for today in the town of David a Saviour has been born for you. He is Christ the Lord. Then many angels came, declaring Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased. In the angelic proclamation there’s the mention of great joy and peace; but also hope - because the Saviour had been born. Jesus was born to die for us in order to save us from our sins; and to grant us eternal life. He was born to bring us back into personal relationship with God, if we would believe in Him. What a message of joy and peace and hope for a world still reeling from Covid-19. Ian Kirk - Pastor at Basso Church See more

08.01.2022 This Sunday through Revelation, we heard Jesus' warning to three of the early churches, who were being caught up with things of this world - His warning was clear - "Wake up!" "I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent." #bassochurch #wearebassochurch #starttheweekright #revelation

04.01.2022 I love Christmas day; a time to sing carols at church and then to come together with family. This year, Christmas with family was at our place. But there was a problem. Our back patio was a mess. It all had to be cleaned up. What a job! Then, last week, I had another big clean up with my work colleagues. Our offices had to be cleaned out so that we could have new carpet laid. If anyone knows my office, then you know it’s full of stuff. Some even say you need survival skills t...o enter my office! But after a massive clean-up, my office is looking pretty good. As I think about clean-ups, our lives need cleaning up too, for often we can have messy. Sometimes it’s from what others throw at us. But there are often things in our own life that need to be cleaned out such as attitudes and behaviours that are not good. We also need to be cleaned-up in another sense. We’ve all done wrong things. We need forgiveness. And there is a gracious God who forgives us and cleanses us if we would believe in Jesus and ask Him. In 1 John 1:9 in the Bible we read If we confess our sins [to God], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That’s why Jesus came; to die for us so that we could be cleansed. Ian Kirk - Pastor at Basso Church See more
