03.01.2022 Repost @grapenomad I often ponder when are wine drinkers going to phase out the phrase if you want Burgundy, this is the closest you’ll get in XYZ country. The flag under which the grape is represented is of mere importance. How it’s approached (site selection, vineyard treatments, winemaking...) is where it’s truly at. Take for example this single vineyard Pinot from Gippsland Godfather Phillip Jones. This transcends all borders w...ith its iconic status. Translucent cherry bright in the glass. At first it smells quite ripe, so ripe that I thought fuck, this is already oxidised. Luckily it mellows out a few minutes later and starts showing great depth and nuance. Has an enjoyable feel in the mouth with moderately high acid and dusty, soft tannins. Painfully smooth.
