22.01.2022 Thanks so much to Penny and the staff at the City of Busselton Libraries for holding some fantastic Japanese themed school holiday activities over the recent sc...hool holidays. Participants got to learn about Japan and our sister city Sugito, took part in the ancient art of Gyotaku (fish printing), made fierce pipe cleaner ninjas and beautiful Geisha ningyo (paper dolls) and even learnt how to sing 'Heads, shoulders, knees and toes' in Japanese! Sugipyon even made an appearance. Thanks to Salty Bones www.facebook.com/saltybonesgyotaku who provided some beautiful real life samples of Gyotaku.

13.01.2022 So nice to have Salty Bones join us at the Cherry Blossom Festival lunch over the weekend. We got to learn about an ancient Japanese Art form called Gyotaku (J...apanese , from gyo "fish" + taku "rubbing"). NowThis traditional Japanese method of printing fish, a practice which dates back to the mid-1800s. This form of nature printing may have been used by fishermen to record their catches, but has now become an art form of its own. See more

A perfect opportunity to recognise the amazing work of the Busselton and Sugito Sister Citites Assocation (BASSCA) Committ...ee and members who run our exchange programs and Sister Cities activities. Without their hard work and dedication so many people would miss out on the enrichment that comes from experiencing the Japanese culture.
