24.01.2022 40 odd years ago, my Father-in-law built a fernery for his wife. 40 years later, I used his design to do exactly the same thing. Once the vines grow and it's filled with plants, it will look spectacular!

24.01.2022 We've been squirrelled away on a project for the past few weeks (more photos on that next week), but now we're out and about again we thought we'd do some landscaping. The weather gods definitely were NOT kind, but it came up a treat and the customer was delightful.

23.01.2022 I said we'd been squirrelled away on a job for a while. I'll put up more photos in the coming week, of the bathroom and laundry, but in this part of the project, we had to remove the old kitchen. Knock out a wall and create a new kitchen along with a new butlers pantry. It's come up pretty well. (The customer did a great job of the painting too!)

18.01.2022 Where on earth do I start with this job. The house was leaking like a sieve and the downstairs ceilings were mouldy and collapsing. Every time it rained, water came in like a shower. And why? The sarking was incorrectly installed (or non existent on the corners) and funnelled water into the house rather than onto the roof. The roof angled towards the house instead of out to the gutter. Flashing was missing so that there were holes in the roof (that were supposed to funnel wat...er away) big enough to put your hand (actually both hands) through. It was 'where do we start' moment! Off came the bottom boards around the upper story and around the corners so that we could fix the sarking. Roofing was removed and packed so that it flowed the right way. Decking was removed and flashed properly. Windows were sealed. Then it was a matter of putting the ceilings back and repainting. And what is it like now? Well after a week from hell regarding rain (70mm in two days), then a storm that knocked out most of the power to Melbourne along with a waterspout that came within 500m of the house, we didn't have a single leak, nor even a dribble under the outside deck. A better test we couldn't have expected for this job! And we are now safe in the knowledge that the client won't need a raincoat on to go downstairs from now on! See more

12.01.2022 This has probably been one of the biggest bathroom challenges we've had yet, but it came up a treat and the customer was an absolute delight to work with. And that Mirror! WOW! Beaumont Glass in Wonthaggi did an awesome job!

12.01.2022 Another deck complete for a wonderful customer. I have to say that all of my customers are a delight to work with!

12.01.2022 Almost the world's smallest bathroom. Lots of fun though!

11.01.2022 This started with, 'It might sound like a silly question but can you finish our deck for us? We've done the deck bit, but we want steps and a ramp.' No such thing as a silly question in our minds! (We'll be back to do the wire balustrade as soon as we can get supplies which are being held up by covid19)

10.01.2022 Another year and another deck complete. We're having lots of fun with all of these new projects!

10.01.2022 Now I know where we've been going wrong!

09.01.2022 This is a first. An outdoor shower in the middle of winter! Thank goodness it has hot water as well!!

07.01.2022 It's a crazy time of year. One deck refurbished complete!

07.01.2022 The corner of this garage had seen better days and with a tiled roof on top of it, it wouldn't be long before it 'came tumbling down' as the song goes. We ordered some beautiful oregon timber (to match the rest of the house) and put everything back together. With a coat of paint it will last another 30+ years.

06.01.2022 Another leaky shower sorted. Thankfully we got to this one early enough that no structural damage had been done to the bathroom floor. So it was out with the old shower and in with the new. (And we tiled the floor and fixed the toilet while we were at it!)

05.01.2022 We haven't posted for a while. This one made me laugh.

05.01.2022 Car Towbar 1 - House nil (ok I'm a soccer guy, lol). Still, a couple of hours work and its all fixed ready for painting!
