18.01.2022 Long night ahead for C platoon.

17.01.2022 What our firefighters wear depends on the kind of incident they are attending and what kind of protection is needed. Not only do our firefighters need to be fi...t enough to assist during emergencies, but each piece of protective clothing and equipment is added weight our firefighters need to carry. Please note, these images were taken before COVID-19 restrictions

15.01.2022 20 years on we pay our respects to the 343. ALL GAVE SOME AND SOME GAVE ALL, NEVER FORGET There were 75 firehouses in which at least one member was killed. The FDNY also lost its department chief, first deputy commissioner, one of its marshals, one of its chaplins, as well as other administrative or specialty personnel. On 9-11, 121 engine companies, 62 ladder companies and 27 fire officers were deployed to the world trade center. All off-duty firefighters were recalled th...e first time the FDNY had issued a total recall in over 30 years. In addition to the regular fire apparatus, and personnel assigned to the incident, the FDNY also deployed its only Haz-Mat unit, its mobile command center, its field communications unit, all its five rescue units, both of its high-rise units, six of its seven squad units, and one of its two tactical support units. 343 of New York's Bravest lost their lives that day. May they all rest in peace. And may we all Never Forget. Remembering their bravery, skill and determination the face of adversity. #nyfd #forever343 #Respect See more

13.01.2022 We would like to take some time to thank all Emergency Personnel from NSWRFS (NSW Rural Fire Service), NSWAS (NSW Ambulance Service), NSWSES (NSW State Emergenc...y Service), FRNSW (Fire +Rescue NSW), NSWPF (NSW Police Force), NPWS (National Parks and Wildlife Services), State Forrest Corp, ADF (The Australian Defence Force) and all the interstate and international counterparts for their ongoing commitment and determination. This year the bush fire devastation is wide spread from border to border on the east coast and has brought many communities, businesses and work groups together. With the ongoing Aussie spirit of all involved in fighting these fires, we would like to thank the community. With a combination of todays technology, warning systems and preparedness from all involved, we wish to say thank you for everything you have done; from preparing your house, activating your bush fire survival plan, and following directions and advice. We are going to share some statistics from some fires since 1994. This information shows the sheer destruction that has occurred and could have been worse if it wasnt for everyone doing their bit. 1994 January - 800 000 hectares burnt - 225 Homes lost - 4 lives lost 2001 Black Christmas 25 Dec 2001 7 Jan 2002 - 753 000 hectares burnt - 109 homes lost - 433 out buildings destroyed 2003 January - 160 000 hectares burnt - 470 homes destroyed - 4 lives lost 2009 Black Saturday Vic 7 Feb 2009 14 Mar 2009 - 450 000 hectares burnt - 2029 homes lost - 3,500+ out buildings destroyed - 180 lives lost 2013 October - 118 000 hectares burnt - 248 buildings destroyed - 40 out buildings destroyed - 2 lives lost 2019 July to December and still currently burning - 2.7 million hectares burnt - 724 homes lost - 1582 out buildings destroyed - 6 lives lost For the Central Coast community, the fire currently burning in the mountains has a combined size of approximately 470 000 hectares burnt. 10.01.2022 Good morning Coasties... Our thoughts are with all those people currently being impacted by the bush fire emergency. Although fire activity over the last week h...as been minimal on the Central Coast Tuesday is being forecast to have a server fire danger rating so we need to be prepared. Please use today to discuss your bush fire survival plan with your family and prepare your home. A well prepared home is more likely to survive a bush fire. Even if your plan is to leave early, the more you prepare your home, the more likely it will survive a bush fire or ember attack. A well prepared home can also be easier for you or firefighters to defend, and is less likely to put your neighbours homes at risk. A well prepared home will also give you more protection if a fire threatens suddenly and you cannot leave. Here are some basic maintenance tips to prepare your property today: Clean your gutters of leaves and debris. Repair damaged or missing tiles on the roof. Repair or cover gaps in external walls. Keep lawns short and gardens well maintained. Cut back trees and shrubs overhanging buildings. Clean up fallen leaves, twigs and debris around the property. Have hoses long enough to reach around your house. If you have a pool, tank or dam, put a Static Water Supply (SWS) sign on your property entrance, so firefighters know where they can get water. Check and maintain adequate levels of home and contents insurance. Ensure it is up to date. For more information go to... https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/ https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/

09.01.2022 May 4th is International Firefighters Day & also the feast day of St Florian, the Patron Saint of Firefighters. St Florian was the first known Commande...r of one Firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which Firefighters all over the world share even today. Happy International Firefighters Day & to Firefighters everywhere stay safe! Pete Learmonth

09.01.2022 As you settle down tonight for bed, remember that, on this night...18 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 peo...ple went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 Firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 am September 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. Never forget.

07.01.2022 Our Firefighters, admin and support staff share important days all year, but ANZAC Day is the day we collectively stop and reflect on the significance of the ev...ents that unfolded 104 years ago. Thousands of miles from home for many thousands of men, some not even 18 years old yet. The loss of life was catastrophic, but it was also here that the Australians steeled their resolve to stand proud as an independent nation, working side-by-side with their New Zealand comrades. ANZAC Day is now Australia and New Zealands day to remember the collective sacrifices made by men, women and animals who were injured, killed or otherwise affected as a result of wars and conflicts to the present day.

07.01.2022 Big day in the city yesterday.

07.01.2022 A photo speaks a thousand words Following Wednesday mornings triple fatality house fire in #singleton, Firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW have visited that ...heart breaking scene to pay their respects to the 3 beautiful children that tragically did not make it. From the photo you can feel the heart break, emotion and compassion our brave fire fighters faced on that sad morning. 06.01.2022 HEARTBREAK TURNS TO JOY: Earlier this week we shared a photo of Jozeph standing dejected at the closed door of Morpeth Fire Station. Morpeth is an On-Call stati...on so timing can be tricky. Were happy to report that through the power of social media Jozeph has been met with an open door and welcoming faces. Our firefighters from Newcastle Fire & Rescue 260 made the little guy one of the crew this morning. Remember: FRNSW Open Day is Saturday 18 May and most stations are open from 10am to 2pm. Check your local stations facebook page or give them a call for more info.

06.01.2022 Dont be alarmed if you call for help and we look a little different when we arrive. Were wearing personal protection equipment to protect you and us. 04.01.2022 Well done the the crew from 017 station - Drummoyne.

03.01.2022 We have been getting a lot of questions regarding a push across social media to tie red or orange ribbons to mailboxes to show appreciation for Firefighters. Whilst we appreciate any tribute to our firefighters, Fire and Rescue NSW are not behind any official call to place ribbons anywhere. We encourage anyone who has a Static Water Supply (pool, dam, large water tank) to instead fix a SWS sign to their mailbox or front fence. You can get an SWS sign from our local fire stati...on or otherwise write it on your fence or mailbox and our crews will know they can access this water supply should they need to. Thank you to everyone who is thinking of us, sending their thanks and words of support, we really appreciate it and it means a lot.

02.01.2022 Please take the time with your family tonight to discuss fire safety in your home. Do you have a working smoke alarm in your house? Do you and your family... have a home escape plan? What would you and your family do if you woke up to a smoke alarm operating? If you answered no to any of these questions, please visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au and follow the Winter Safety Tips.
