23.01.2022 Shearing the bucks. This guy is L151 a three and a half year old buck.

23.01.2022 Lovely day today. Some of the doe kids. They’re carrying a little more veg than I like but hopefully we’ll get some rain and that might make some of the veg drop out.

21.01.2022 Kid doe nearly shorn.

20.01.2022 Moving at last!

20.01.2022 It’s that time of year again so I have surplus does available. They range in age from kids and up. All are unjoined.

17.01.2022 Does practicing social distancing.

16.01.2022 Terrifically exciting! We have samples of our home-grown cashmere back from the spinner in Italy. This batch is 14.9 microns and 100% grown by our happy goats at Minden in SE Qld. There's natural white and we tried the densest black to test the dyeing. The black is intense and deep but has a definite brightness and sheen.

14.01.2022 Reclassing three bales of 15 micron cashmere to try and make an under 14.5 micron bale. Sounds easy, but took hours!

13.01.2022 Still not heading through the gate!

13.01.2022 Does in their joining paddock. They’ve picked up a bit of veg fault from weeds grown after the drought, but at least they’re looking well. There’s a buck in there somewhere! We’re staying fine with buck choices, this guy is 14 micron and 550 grams of cashmere as a two year old.

12.01.2022 It’s so dry here, but at least the does and kids are doing well.

12.01.2022 Lovely dense and fine Cashmere fleece.

12.01.2022 One of the two year old bucks just about to be shorn, let’s play guess the micron. I’ve just sent the samples off to Micron Man, so results will be a few weeks away. There’s a prize for getting within half a micron of the test result .... you get to be right!

11.01.2022 Meet the grand kids!

10.01.2022 Absolutely exquisite cashmere finer than 14.5 microns made into a sliver. The handle is amazingly soft but the brightness is quite striking.

06.01.2022 Some of our Cashmeres were just sent to Nepal to help develop their cashmere industry. After an exhaustive selection process, health tests, isolation and a couple of plane trips they’re there happy and healthy.

06.01.2022 One of our bucks that went to help out with the breeding program in Nepal. He’s looking well!

05.01.2022 Finally! The knitter is almost back working after Covid lockdown. So our single origin, pure Australian (actually pure Qld!) Cashmere yarn is about to be made up. These are the first three colours.

04.01.2022 Doe kids hopefully going through the gate.

03.01.2022 Bathampton K060 about to head off to stud duties in Victoria. He was 13.3 microns with 243 grams cashmere as a yearling, 13.9 with 567 as a two year old and 15.0 and 708 grams as a three year old. The ultra fine ones like this fellow are often less showy in their fleece than the stronger types.
