22.01.2022 Just arrived in Copenhagen, very lush reporter for the Copenhagen magazine as I remember, just starting to sport a beard it took a while back then when I was 22!
21.01.2022 How it all began, sea trials in Salcombe in the Steel Bath I had bought from a scrappy in Plymouth for 5 pounds, keels welded on by the Dobsons (Metal craft?) island street. I filled it with expanding foam then cut a space just big enough for my body so it had positive buoyancy even when a full wave came over. 20 years old but i look like 14!
16.01.2022 The contract with the Daily Star, I had to get halfway across the channel to get 750 pounds, I gave the Dover fishing boat skipper my Triumph Spitfire as security as I had no money to pay him . After half an hour the Star reporter and Photographer were lying in the bottom of the fishing boat puking begging me to give up saying they would say I made it half way even though I had only gone two miles!
10.01.2022 I had this wonderful underwriter at Lloyds of London who insured both my baths as ships which helped when I was arrested in France for being more than 200m offshore in a "beachcraft" under their laws. He always put a clause in "That the plug remain in at all times" as in the original document below! A Lloyds surveyor actually came and registered both baths , it cost 200 pounds and they wern't happy but I worked out it seems you could register anything if its measured properly by an official surveyor and it floats.
02.01.2022 The first bathtub to get across the channel, unlike the comedian bloke who put a bath onto a boat and rowed it across ten years later !
