10.01.2022 Shave for a Cure Next Thursday 13th August, Bathurst High Campus will be hosting the Worlds Greatest Shave to raise important funds for young people living with cancer in Australia. This week, we will be getting to know some of the students who have signed up to shave or colour. Our first participant is Year 11 student Bronte OBrien. How many years have you participated in Worlds Greatest Shave?: "This is my second time participating. I cut and donated my hair back in 20...17 for to help make wigs for cancer patients. This year I will be donating my hair again, but I will be shaving". What is your personal fundraising goal?: $2000 Why are you participating?: My mum passed away from cancer back in 2015, which is why I first donated my hair in 2017. I knew that if my Mum had lost her hair and required a wig to be made, then I would have given her mine. I want to help young people living with cancer to feel like themselves again by having hair, but also to help cover costs for medical treatment and staying in hospitals as I know how difficult this was for my own family. How are you feeling about the shave?: "I was more nervous when I first signed up back in March compared to now. I am excited and proud to raise this money and awareness of such an important cause. I know that my hair will grow back, others wont". How can the BHC community get involved?: Donate to my profile via the link below (all funds raised go towards the BHC 2020 team), watch the shave at lunch on Thursday 13th August in the gym for a gold donation, enjoy a Rocky BBQ or participate in one of the fun activities that SRC has planned for the event. http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/bronteobrien Sally Hennessy | SRC coordinator
