21.01.2022 This morning at 11.25am Bawley Point RFB responded to a call out to attend a Motor Vehicle Accident. The accident was a single vehicle accident where the driver... had fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the Highway about 5klm south of Termeil and impact into a tree. Fortunately, the driver escaped any serious injury and Bawley Point RFB had to remain on scene and cut the damaged tree down, to avoid it falling across the highway. However, the situation doesn’t end there. While still on scene at the accident site the Brigade was approached and a passing motorist seeking urgent assistance for either an ambulance, or directions to the nearest hospital. This emergency related to a three year old boy who had suffered serious burns to his legs after falling into a campfire. Brigade members immediately applied first aid and applied Glad Wrap to little boy’s burns to help relieve the pain. Police who were also at the accident scene then escorted the motorist and boy to Milton hospital. Please everyone, be careful when driving tired, remember to stop and rest and also, please keep a close eye on your little ones especially around camp fires and let’s all stay safe.
