25.01.2022 SOUTH COAST OPEN FOR BUSINESS Emergency Services and infrastructure services have been working hard to ensure many areas of the South Coast can re-open. After ...assessments held today, it has been decided that visitors may now return to areas of the Shoalhaven and South Coast. However, areas that were heavily impacted by the fires remain accessible to local residents only. People wishing to take advantage of the tourist areas are strongly encouraged to contact their destination/accommodation providers before setting off. You should always check your route is clear by monitoring Live Traffic NSW and be aware that roads may be closed at short notice. A number fires remain active to the west of the Princes Highway and it is important to keep your self up to date with the situation by checking the NSW RFS website or Fires Near Me app. National Parks will remain closed in the area until 1st February 2020. If you are visiting the area, enjoy your stay. This is and remains a beautiful area of NSW.

08.01.2022 What a difference a day makes . ~ THE NSW RFS - Shoalhaven HAS GIVEN VISITORS THE ALL CLEAR TO COME BACK AND VISIT THE SHOALHAVEN !!! ~ This good news means tw...o things for us. One is that this indicates that we can all calm our nerves finally. The other is that our local businesses can start to recover with YOUR support and we can look forward to having you here . ~ We will be here waiting with open arms and open hearts. ~ If you are heading down, here are a few ways you can ‘Tread Lightly’ in our community when you come to visit. ~ 1. There are still some very fragile hearts here who need to be handled with care. With an abundance of loss, bucketloads of exhaustion, financial loss and confused souls please be mindful and on the look out for ways that you can hold space for someone, even if they are a stranger. If you see someone struggling ask if they are ok or hand out a hug (with permission of course). ~ 2. Be patient with retailers and local businesses. We will all be trying to find our new normal. But I’m sure it won’t take long . ~ 3. Make sure you drive to the speed limits on the highways and keep a look out for our wildlife. They have suffered tremendous loss and we don’t want to lose anymore. ~ 4. Firefighting and disaster relief is not very environmentally friendly as we have discovered. So if we can start reversing that damage by doing our Take 3 wherever we are that would be a HUGE help. We have always taken a lot of pride in our pristine environment, it’s time to refocus and get back to #protectingwhatwelove. ~ 5. Please try where you can to stay away from fire effected villages unless you are staying there. They need time to recover and come to terms with what has happened. #respecttheirprivacy and give them space. ~ 6. And last but not least come with an @emptyesky and @spendwiththem #20cafesin20days!!! Every cent you spend with us will help put people back into work, create independence, help us get back into a routine and our #newnormal, which is SO important for our mental health.
