22.01.2022 At it again drying pots in the Summer sun ready to raw glaze tomorrow then single fire in my wood kiln come Wednesday. Recently I have found myself in a world w...ide movement of potters trying to revive the lost art of raw glazing and single firing. Such potters as Steven Hill and Simon Leach in the US and one of Australia’s inspirational potters Euan Craig. We all hope to revive these skills before they are lost to time. Up until around 1890 raw glazing and single firing was the norm then bisque firing was introduced basically to store greenware. Still today over 98% of all the worlds commercial ceramics is raw glazed and single fired. Unfortunately not in the craft area of pottery where it has been forgotten. See more
