This course can change your practice completely. ********** NOTES FOR THIS CLASS: ++++++++++++++++++ FIRST PART OF THE CLASS: For the first half of this class I speak and show you methodology on the how to get a better feeling for six commonly taught postures. If you wish you can briefly try the normal version of each pose then try 'my version’; and then try the ’normal’ version again and see how it may have changed in terms of flexibility, strength and blood flow. If you prefer you can simply observe this part of the class, but by trying the simple exercises I offer, you may be able to more easily understand why I am teaching what I am teaching, and you will then be better primed to follow my simple practice in the second part of the session. In the last part of this section I also show two combinations movements that relate to ‘salute to the sun, breathing, heart rate variability, and a number of other things I won’t go into here. LAST PART OF CLASS - MEDITATIVE FLUID PRACTICE: For the last twenty minutes I lead a purely visually instructed meditative class (no verbal instructions) that almost anyone can do. You simply follow me visually by keeping your eyes on the screen when my face is looking straight ahead. SINGLE CLICK SOUND: I will make a single ‘click’ sound to suggest a new movement you can follow me with in the direction I am moving but maybe not so far. DOUBLE CLICK SOUND: I will sometimes also make a double click sound, which means ‘keep repeating the pattern I have created. ******** MODIFY YOUR PRACTICE AS YOU NEED: You can move slower or bigger than me, and faster or slower than me if you need. You can even do the entire practice sitting on a chair if you wish. ******** PRINCIPLES OF PRACTICE: I am using the main principles of natural movement, which are to move fluidly and actively from your core with natural breathing to give a practice that is safe, accessible and very effective introductory practice for most people, Most of the time, on the physical, energetic, and mental, both while doing the practice and afterwards (in the short term and the long-term. I also believe that really for most people over the age of 25 who do not want to be elite sports people and who have ongoing health, happiness, well-being and longevity as their main aim, then this type of practice is enough. ******** WHAT YOU CAN GET FROM THIS TYPE OF PRACTICE: Check to see if you got any of the following things from any part of this class (remember please that this was a very quick introductory class that normally I spend at least three hours to teach systematically): *** improved flexibility without feeling intense stretch *** improved strength without feeling tense or stressed *** relaxation without needing to be completely passive *** improved energy levels without having to breathe more than normal *** improved circulation (warmth) without necessarily making your heart beat faster AND especially in the last part of the practice when I don’t speak ... *** improved intelligence of your body cells without having to make you over-think *** satiation your appetite and feel nourished without having to eat so much (unless you over-breathed) *** a sense of feeling rested and rejuvenated without having had to sleep so much *** a sense of having done a meditation practice without having to sit still (often in an uncomfortable position for many people) ********** PROGRESSION: You don’t need to put your hands on the floor in this practice and you don't need to do anything requiring extreme flexibility. But this is a very effective practice for everyone and can be used a prelude to really advanced work, including arm-balancing, as well as extreme speed and flexibility posture and movement if you wish. I love teaching that type of practice as well but to be safe and effective it is so much better if you learn these principles first.
