20.01.2022 Outboard motor four stroke internal engine anodes. It is very important these are removed and checked regularly. These sacrificial anodes help protect the inside of your engine from corrosion and are not being inspected /cleaned or replaced as they should be. On a large number of engines I service for the first time these anodes are even seized in place, likely they have never been removed previously?

19.01.2022 Spark Plugs a key component of your boat’s engine, they take in high voltage electricity and ignite a spark at the other end. This spark fires the air and fuel mixture within the engine and creates the combustion that powers your boat. Fresh clean fuel is essential but means very little if you do not remove and service your Spark plugs as per specifications relating to your outboard. These spark plugs were out of a 3 litre Optimax and were so worn the electrode is completing missing on one of the plugs. The poor engine was still running but you can imagine how poor the performance and fuel economy must have been?

12.01.2022 The fishing line gets caught in your spinning prop, and quickly wraps itself around the prop. Once there, it gets wrapped around the prop shaft and winds around the shaft, heats up and melts. As it melts, strands cut into the prop shaft seals. When the fishline cuts through the rubber lips on these seals, it's not long until water seeps in, and gear oil seeps out. Without regular maintenance, you'll never know until it's too late. Often it's the rust on the bearings etc that forms as a result of the water intrusion that's the actual cause of internal failure.

06.01.2022 I removed this thermostat (after freeing up the bolts that held it in place) from a Yamaha motor that was serviced recently before the owner moved here. This poor service gives the trade a bad name. Thankfully the motor did not overheat.
