24.01.2022 Introducing Deception Bay's Assistant in Junior Kindy 2020! Miss Steffanie If you could be any animal, which would you be ?... - I'd love to be a dolphin, with the intelligence and freedom. where's your favourite place in the world? I've always had an interest in Rome, the history of it is so intriguing and it looks so beautiful. if you could have any one superpower, which would it be? - I'd have to say mind reading as I'd love to know what and how others think. #WeAreBayExplorersFamily

24.01.2022 Yesterday the toddler children worked together to create a group aboriginal dot painting of a turtle. We had earlier been exploring the different animals used in traditional aboriginal art and we looked at the ways they painted and the different colours used. We tried to replicate this using similar colours and using dots. Turtles are a favoured food source for Indigenous communities and therefore appear as totems and in Dreamtime stories and Creation myths. Indigenous people respect the food resources that sustain them and they celebrate the turtle in rituals that aim to increase the bounty of the species.

21.01.2022 Today the theme was cooking so all together we made oat, banana and sultana cookies. First up we washed our hands and gloved up to start our cooking. We all had a chance to put something in the bowl, we started off with mashing the banana in the bowl, then we added the sultanas and mixed them two together. Last up we added the oats and combined them altogether until it was ready to be rolled into balls. Once it was done Miss Jo showed us how to roll into balls and placed them on the tray ready to go into the oven to cook and we will enjoy them for afternoon tea. #bayexplorershappybellies

20.01.2022 Today the Kindergarten children were given the opportunity to make their own banana and strawberry smoothies. We took turns to chop up the fruit, carefully using our fine motor skills and watched as it was blended in the mixer. We all were able to have a taste, with many wanting seconds. Yummy! #bayexplorerskindy #learningatbayexplorers

17.01.2022 Today the Kindergarten children had a special visitor to our Kindergarten class. We had discussions about what foods we could see in our wraps and how they make us grow up strong! Chicken, carrot, cheese, cucumber and lettuce! This was a great extension as we have been looking at ‘always’ and ‘sometimes’ foods! #bayexplorershappybellies

15.01.2022 It was cooking day and we made some healthy chocolate crackles. We used rice bubbles, coconut oil, cacao powder, and maple syrup to create these. The children assisted in adding the different ingredients as there was more than one portion added for each. Once all the ingredients were added to the bowl, we helped Miss Steff in mixing all ingredients together. We then assisted in adding a couple of spoonfuls of mixture into the muffin papers. The completed chocolate crackles... were then placed in the fridge to firm up and to be ready for us to eat for afternoon tea. Cooking with kids is not just about ingredients, recipes and cooking. It’s about harnessing imagination, empowerment and creativity - Guy Fieri #LearningatBayExplorers

02.01.2022 Hello everyone, This week, each of the rooms have been celebrating "NAIDOC week". The educators have created some very meaningful learning opportunities for the children throughout the week and I wanted to share our Toddler room. Miss Amy, Miss Nga and Miss Neha, have created a wonderful display of their children's work and learning of NAIDOC. The flag is created from the Toddlers handprints - so very thoughtful - working together and developing an understanding of the Aboriginal Flag. Great work Toddler educators and children. #BayExplorersCelebrates

01.01.2022 Children learn in different ways. So we endeavour to set up different activities to cater to their learning styles. Today we extended our knowledge about different types of transportation. Look how we explored and learned through play. Max and Logan role played as pilots by flying the aeroplanes around the room and hitting the landing strip on the table. Alex was at the control tower directing the planes. Elias, Evie, Olivia, Anyu and Max studied the small model of planes an...d drew their own representations. Mackenzie made a rocket ship using the shape magnets. Olivia, Vaya and Logan used monster trucks to make tracks. Patrick , Samuel and Odin used cars to trace the road letters. While Thomas, Aria and Nina decided to colour in pictures of different vehicles. Everyone extended on their own ideas and shared those ideas with each other. #LearningatBayExplorers See more
