16.01.2022 Water Police warn boaties of dangerous water conditions ahead of weekend Brisbane Water Police are warning all boaties and beach goers to consider staying... away from the surf today and this weekend as strong wind is forecast. The windy conditions are already causing numerous vessels to drift, sparking the concern for safety. Officer in Charge of Brisbane Water Police, Senior Sergeant David Edden said people should avoid heading out on the water this weekend. We are expecting extremely windy conditions this weekend, meaning we can also expect dangerous conditions out on the water, Senior Sergeant Edden said. Those already on the water should be sure they are carrying appropriate safety equipment and that they wear their life jackets. Ensure you check the security of any anchored vessels to make sure they are adequately prepared for the windy weather and strong swell. Weve already seen a number of vessels go astray. We just want to make sure that everyone stays as safe as possible this weekend. More information about weather warnings can be found on www.bom.gov.au.
